Chevrolet Colorado (i actually like this truck)
Chrysler Sebring Convertible
Chrysler Town & Country
Dodge Grand Caravan
Ford F-250 (really? wth?)
GMC Canyon
Jaguar XF
Lincoln MKS
Mercedes-Benz GL450
Volkswagen Touareg

Who the hell writes these articles? Why would the Colorado and the Canyon be on the same list? Arent they the same truck, different branding? What information are the editors using to qualify these cars as "clunker cars to avoid", the cost of annual repairs? Idiots!

BTW, i would take a Lincoln MKS AWD and a Touareg.

early years of the Colorado/Canyon suck.
the Sebring is a service nightmare
the Town & Country/ Grand Caravan have electrical and transmission issues
certain model years of the F250 have a bad front end design
The Jag... this is a no-brainer
the Lincoln surprised me, honestly as did the Benz.
the Touareg... i have heard that with these, it's everything all at once.

The Grand Caravan is interesting. Unlike its short wheel base sister, the long base models were made at the St Louis Assembly which is known for inconsistent quality issues. However I know when I was in the Caravan community, most of those issues were easy fixes.

The Colorado and Canyon are only on that list cause the 2.8/3.5 have problems with premature valve seat wear. Which was a problem you either got or didn't. GM warranted these engines to 100,000 miles too. Otherwise these trucks haven't had the problems some of the competitors have had, and are seeing 200,000 miles plus with no problem. Forbes can suck my dick.

Not. These cars really do have some serious issues. Its not saying imports are perfect, but these cars come first on the shitty cars list! Who knows, Honda or Nissan might be 11, 12, 13 for all we know.

Canyons/Colorados are a service nightmare. They have a LOT of issues, and nothing is a simple job on them (It pays 7.5 hours to do the front rotors, 7 hours to do a valve cover gasket, etc...)

Snap On Shop Key (mitchell) says 4.8 to do the front rotors and 5.5 to do the valve cover gaskets. Why so high at your shop?

Looking at these labour times I guess I better lose my H3 once the warranty expires!1

i've found that the service advisors 'pad' the time service times to cover any issues the tech runs into.

That's kind of scary to be honest, though I know it happens. To me, having managed and still managing shops, that's a tech double dipping from the flat rate system. If he beats the flat rate time, he still gets the full flat rate pay and moves onto the next job. If he's slower for whatever reason, he's now asking for and getting more money.

The only time the flat rate system should be compromised like that where the tech gets more money is if the issues are caused by something seized, excessively rusted, broken etc... but that should only be done at the time it's discovered, not padded ahead of time.

dirty dirty
