But as far as noises, I should take you guys complaining about rattles, clunks, thunks, twangs, groans, chugs, slaps, etc. on a ride. I've got a cylinder firing just a little late, a wheel bearing (whole hub assembly) on its way out, and it's a 2000 Stratus. I have to have the music *very* loud if I want to hear anything other than said noises.

Yeah, my Tercel (Now the Toyobaru Terpreza) winter beater has a wheel bearing that's so loud it drowns out my stereo.
It's been getting quieter... I'm not sure if I should be concerned or happy.

WTF is wrong with their engines? If you had have said electrical systems, I'd agree... but that comment just voided any bit of automotive knowledge you may have aquired on wikipedia.

I meant engine electrical...

theres nothing wrong with engine electronics its usually other electric quirks

I sat in the new camaro at the car show, for the price VS interior quality, it was completely terrible. Gm is awful, atleast ford got their shit together and is building products I would buy.

Chevy had a name contest for the members of J-body.org and one of the Delta-body or Ecotec Forums to name the Cobalt before it was released. No one really liked the name Cobalt and the two names that got the most votes were "Corsair" and "Chevelle".
Chevy went with Cobalt anyway.
goofy name... good car, though.
I thought Corsair would've been a killer name for a car.

I always thought the Cadillac Catera sounded cool.

its not the first time cadillac division has tried to badge-engineer a non-prestige and pass it off as a superluxury car. remember the cimarron? every once in awhile some fartsniffer in the marketing department gets a big idea about how dull our palate is and tries to sneak a sh!t sandwich through the pass to see what he can get away with.

GM is about to make that mistake again with the Chevy Cruze (The replacement for the Cobalt)... there's going to be an "uplevel" Buick version of it.

I thought Buick was getting the MK6 Astra. I know it's the same platform, but I'm pretty sure it's a vastly different car.

From what I've read in our press releases, this one will be pretty much identical to the Cruze with more softness and less personality.

However, being GM, they may have already changed this 6 times over since I read the press release.

The Cimarron was a classic case of badge engineering gone wrong.
the Cimarron, in of itself, was not a bad car. It was more or less a 4 door Z24. It the same underpinnings of the Z and the MPFI V6 (although some DID have the 2.0L and they were DOGS!). Their asking price was just stupid, however.

(I recall both Nissan, Honda and Toyota badge-engineering some cars as uplevel cars in the prestige lines: Infiniti, Acura and Lexus all had dolled-up versions of plebian lower line cars)

As for the Chevrolet Cruze... Gah! What a colossal mistake. Another Daewood piece of shit that the marketing idiots at GM think will sell.
I've already sent hate mail to GM about it.

more like the Chevrolet Luze(r)

Yeah, our Daewoo based vehicles are just. fucking. terrible.

Ditto with the Isuzu sourced crap (ie, canyon/colorado...). They aren't cheap, they're expensive to fix, they aren't good, and they don't have any power.

Just did PDI on a base model 4x4 Canyon... crank windows, manual mirrors, no cd or tape deck, no flares, etc. The only options were auto and 4x4... after taxes it was $35,000!!!!

You can get a 4x4 Sierra or Silverado for LESS than that... and they get better freaking gas mileage!

I was under the impression that the Colorado was just a GM modification of Isuzu's DMAX Trucks with an Atlas engine.
