P71 is the interceptor designation, and my mpg is better than most if not all SUV's. I get about 20mpg city, and 30 hwy. I was looking at SUV's before, I am guessing they suck gas down because they are usually geared for towing, as well heavier, and less aerodynamic. With a 2.73 rear end on a crown vic 30mpg hwy is the worst you would get, those are on most if not all civi cv's.

In the end I chose this car because I knew it was better on gas, way cheaper on parts, and with all the heavy duty parts on it, I knew it would last.

Propane comes I guess once the taxi co's get their hands on some of the former cv's.

typo, sorry. P72 is the commercial heavy duty (taxi prep) which is available with propane

If you consider that a gallon of gas in montreal right now is 4.65$, that may be good a good thing to avoid this.

Right now I consider a 2000 buick century with 80,000 km for around 2800$
OR a 2000 lesabre with 110,000km for about the same price.

Which one would you choose ?

the Buick Century is the lower level version of the Regal which is a W-body. The W-body includes Lumina/Impala/Monte Carlo and Pontiac Grand Prix.

The LeSabre is a pretty good car, but for your purposes, I would go with the smaller Century. Also, the Century is a little easier to buy parts for because of so many associated product lines.

HOWEVER... the 3100 and 3400 V6 engines are a little tempermental. The 60-degree V6 has issues with the intake gasket failing and filling the crankcase with coolant. The LeSabre has a better 3800 V6 (90 degree), but it's a heavier, larger car.

toronto's got camrys, priuses, MPVs, caravan/voyagers in taxi service, mostly independent operators use them... any cheap/readily available car or van can be registered and used, and many of them are...

brantford's even got a few godawful PT cruisers in service (tiger taxi)

One of the cab drivers I kind of knew in Whitby, ON drove this very pristine Carpice Wagon. I swear he drenched that car in Armor All every night!

yeah most cabbies are either owner operators or rent at night from another owner operator here in montreal, so you are riding around in the family car. My friends father used malibus so the entire family is riding around in malibus lol, my neighbor he used cavaliers (with cavaliers you are not allowed to go to the airport though)

My Monte Carlo didn't, but the Beretta did.
Luckily the guy who owned my Beretta shut it down before it ate the crank.

the montreal taxi bureau has some odd rules, a few years back a local company tried to paint thier cabs yellow and the taxi bureau complained. as for the airport only midsize and fullsize cars are allowed

I guess that would make sense, people can't fit their luggage in a Cavalier.
At least not most of the time. So wasted limited space where some more useful mid-full size cars could be sitting.
