I don't know if anyone has been following the story of the Iranian woman sentenced to death by stoning for adultery:

They might mean showering someone with "love" rocks to demonstrated forgiveness and peace, but most of the people I've seen stoned had their heads bashed in. For peace.

The Koran says Adultery is illegal, however never mentions stoning:

24:2 The adulterer and the adulteress, scourge ye each one of them (with) a hundred stripes. And let not pity for the twain withhold you from obedience to Allah, if ye believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a party of believers witness their punishment.

The Hadith mentions it several times, firmly entrenching stoning in Sharia law, for example:

Volume 3, Book 50, Number 885:
Narrated Abu Huraira and Zaid bin Khalid Al-Juhani:

A bedouin came to Allah's Apostle and said, "O Allah's apostle! I ask you by Allah to judge My case according to Allah's Laws." His opponent, who was more learned than he, said, "Yes, judge between us according to Allah's Laws, and allow me to speak." Allah's Apostle said, "Speak." He (i .e. the bedouin or the other man) said, "My son was working as a laborer for this (man) and he committed illegal sexual intercourse with his wife. The people told me that it was obligatory that my son should be stoned to death, so in lieu of that I ransomed my son by paying one hundred sheep and a slave girl. Then I asked the religious scholars about it, and they informed me that my son must be lashed one hundred lashes, and be exiled for one year, and the wife of this (man) must be stoned to death." Allah's Apostle said, "By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, I will judge between you according to Allah's Laws. The slave-girl and the sheep are to be returned to you, your son is to receive a hundred lashes and be exiled for one year. You, Unais, go to the wife of this (man) and if she confesses her guilt, stone her to death." Unais went to that woman next morning and she confessed. Allah's Apostle ordered that she be stoned to death.


Islam is a religion of peace, though, so only peaceful stonings please.

Agreed, but let's start with something a bit more important, like calling BS on making any political decisions based on any religion.

I heard she was already flogged (per the original sentence) and then the assholes decided she deserved to be stoned as well. Lovely.

Religion of Peace as long as you obey your masters and let them do whatever the f**k they want. That what it sounds like to me.

Seems that there is a light at the end of the tunnel - Iran has postponed her stoning, bowing to international public opinion. Good thing they already lashed her with the peace whip.

Harakat al-Shabaab Mujahideen an insurgent islamist jihad terrorist group killed 74 people and another 60 were wounded when two bombs were detonated in Uganda. Religion of peace. Pipe bombs made with love and peace that produce wellness fragments to rip people peaceful holes. Especially the kids.

Anyone that allows special pleading for religious ideas needs to understand that that "tolerance" of unreasonable ideas contributes to making this okay. Those that call themselves moderate muslims bear special responsibility.

Your right for the most part, Buddhism preaches peace and tolerance, but there are buddhist terrorists.

In Sri Lanka, Sinhala Buddhists attacked, and promoted terrorist attacks against Tamils and Christians.

The Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA) is the militant wing of the Democratic Karen Buddhist Organization (DKBO) in Myanmar (Burma) and are a recognized terrorist group.

And no one that studies world war two Japan can doubt that a buddhist culture is capable of promoting violence and hatred.

Unreasonable ideas can attach themselves anywhere.

True, but one could argue that there's a difference between being a member of a particular religion and being a terrorist, and being a terrorist in the name of your particular religion.

The Jains, Quakers and Bahais could be called peaceful religions, but they are in extreme minority.

Very true.

In the case of the karens it is a chicken and egg argument. They are not terrorists because they are buddhists, but they were likely targeted by another group because they were buddhists and then reacted.

The problem could well be described as tribalism based on baseless ideas.
