Funny, I googled for this type of car, and found this pic on the second page, which is the exact one I worked on/drove... guess it came from Alberta before it was in Ontario.

Small world.

Wait... definitely not a shogun... didn't that have the SHO engine in it?

And jeez, with that engine? Subaru Rex?

Did it have like a 14,000 rpm redline like most engines that small or was it more balanced?

I seem to remember the redline was 9 or 10,000 rpm... the first time I drove it, Ian (my old boss), said to drive it hard... so I did. He said no, way harder than that. The thing just ROARED and took off like a scared cat. It'd keep up with a Cobalt SS on Shannonville raceway no problem at all.

It's tiny, too... about the size of a classic Mini, right hand drive, and gets pretty decent mileage.

Subaru actually uses that same engine (The "Clover4") in some of their mini pickups.

My friend Chris bought it off of Ian this spring and brought it to the GM dealership I used to work at for me to do a safety on, it definitely attracted some attention.

Sounds pretty neat... is it a shared platform or something? It looks a TON like a daihatsu (like nismo said) or maybe like a euro-spec festiva.

That's really close... but note the curve along the top of the side windows... still definitely a different car.
