Really? Shut the fuck up. If you love it, youll still be able to afford to drive it even at $5-10/gallon. They pay about $10/gal in the UK.

Move to Venezuela or Egypt where it's still under $1/gallon. But try finding the nice cars I guess the answer is to buy a sick muscle car and move to Venezuela.

you're an idiot... what he's talking about is that some classic (and not so classic, but near and dear cars) have been crushed merely for scrap value. the owners were boobs and instead of selling them, scrapped them.

actually, gas prices have changed my lifestyle... i'm moving away from cars and getting more into dirtbikes and atv's. They're cheaper to run and actually more fun.

GAs prices have stopped me from 4 wheeling and driving my truck and sports cars. I drive a 4 cylinder wagon now, while everything sits in the driveway. I cant even find a buyer to sell the gas hogs to.

I think traffic enforcement and stiffer penalties is killing the hobby. Also the average age of drivers is increasing.

Most middle aged and older follow the "old people are slow" stereotype.

It's mostly about nostalgia for the older crowd now. Most teenagers and 20 somethings don't, or can't, get sports cars that rival their competition (the police).

Outrunning them was easy in the 70's/80's and less severe.

You don't start out driving fast, you never will.

And unless you're on a sport bike, every time you get behind the wheel, it's a dice roll.

holy shit scatterbrain edits

Insurance must be different, if you under 25 and it's got more than 4 cylinders or a turbo ... you're fucked.

fucking truth.

Also, if you're really into it, you're going to find a way to stay in it. I justify paying more for gas since I drive vehicles that are bad on gas...people pay for the things they're into.

i was lucky... my insurance has always been affordable.
last year, though, State Farm kept upping my rates even though I had been with them for almost 10 years. I had four claims with them over the years, two were windshield replacements, one was a deer strike and the last one was when my Cobalt had been vandalized.

$1800/year for full coverage on 4 cars. Shit's cheap when you get married and pass 25!
