I only have liability, not full coverage, and now pay $114/month for two cars - '97 Jeep Wrangler and '96 Mercury Grand Marquis.

It was substantially higher, but I tried that Snapshot Discount thing Progressive offers, and it lowered it over $30 a month when I just had the Jeep on it.

Driving responsibly is killing the the car hobby?

Well I mean, why own a fast car just to drive zero to the speed limit in four seconds? You can't even do that, they ticket for accelerating too fast now; which is why most "car people" I've met recently buy something gasonomical and baby it so it lasts forever and they don't buy camaros.

There's still private circuit and rallies but that's whole a different area. Really you have to have a hefty wallet and a dedicated race car for that.

The days of the 70's/80's and Dukes of Hazard are long gone.

Just drive something economical during the week, if you don't need a truck for work. Then cut loose and get your kicks on the weekend, or random summer cruises, with some nasty V8 action

This man may have a suggestion, just don't follow him 'all the way'.

No more cheap muscle cars? There's a guy here whose been trying to sell a rough but running '73 Charger for years, he can't get 3K for it. Just Sayin, there's still some cheap semi bad ass V8's available, or collector cars with 6's, Chevelle's, for cheap, at least they turn up here fairly often.

My TDI Jetta has bigger injector nozzles and the higher volume injection pump from an automatic TDI, so I have a TON more power, and I get better mileage than stock now. I love diesels!

She'll leave a riced out Integra behind in a pile of black smoke... while getting 62-64 mpg.

Paid the Sammys insurance today. $31. A month. So around $360 a year. Full coverage would have been about $500 a year, which is pointless with a $250 deductible.

I currently pay 63.50 a month for my Jeep, but I also have a small inland marine insurance on the radio gear.

18.5 gallons = 70 liters.
DAMN. the tank in the Burrito is 16.0 gallons and the one in the Cobalt is only 13.3 gallons.

Also, if you're really into it, you're going to find a way to stay in it. I justify paying more for gas since I drive vehicles that are bad on gas...people pay for the things they're into.

Truth!

This was my only vehicle and daily driver up until 4 days ago.

I'm averaging about 19.5 mpg on the vic... on a 20gal tank that tops at 22gal after the reserve. i filled it once from about 1L remaining to click off and that was a ridiculous bill, even at 2.65/gal.

i cant imagine filling from near empty now...
