I know I did a thread last year about what oil & filter we run in our vehicles, so I figured a new thread would be neat to see.

1994 Jeep Cherokee SE (AMC 242 4.0 Litre High Output)
Oil: Mobil 5000 10W-30
Filter: Baldwin B-2
Transmission Fluid: Chrysler ATF+4

I'm spoiled rotten (and don't have a hoist to get my skid plate off) so bandi does my oil changes for me...so for all I know he could be pouring a concoction of whatever is laying around the shop and pee into my Jetta to exact his revenge for having to deal with the skid plate of doom.

When I was still driving my 93 Civic hatchback it got the cheapest oil filter and oil, which usually ended up being Motomaster. 171723 Motomaster oil filter...still remember 2 years later.

That's unfortunate. What's wrong with fram?

Edit: I haven't heard anything bad about them, that's why I ask, not trying to argue. I buy fram because that's what they have at walmart.

That explains it more, but basically, the materials they put in are not your best bang for your buck, even at Wal-Mart. The SuperTech filters actually at Wal-mart are better than FRAM and you save money.

And thats my whole point; for the same price at most stores, you can get a better filter.

So i'm approaching the first oil change since buying the BMW.... what do you guys suggest for filters?
It's an X5 with a 4.6l - 120km

I was fucking around on some X5 and bmw forums and am hearing everything from FRAM to MANN to MAHLE to NAPA

Here's what i'm looking at for pricing
NAPA PRoSelect - $15
NAPA GOLD - $42
MANN $18
MAHLE $15
FRAM Extraguard $20.00

Quite a few are suggesting the MAHLE which if I recall is the OEM filter on BMW bikes. What do you think?
