The 2.8's always looked out of place in these... you could pretty much stand between the motor and the radiator.

Certainly did... my friends sister had an '82 Firebird with one. There was no reason for that car to exist with that motor.

My mom had an '83 with the 2.8, put a rod through the side of the block at like 50,000 miles and was never abused.

I loved that car as a kid.

#4 rod bearing I would suspect... that defect was due to an issue with the oil pump.

That thing did have its issues... the door sag was brutal, and by age 5 the hood had two massive rust holes about the headlights. Still, always loved the styling of those.

Although the rear seat visibility SUCKED for a short kid!!!
