The speaker fell out of the door in my Chevy truck this weekend. I guess that's what I get for opening and closing a door.

congrats, you know of a couple good ones out of millions produced.
Do you want a medal?

My VW broke nearly weekly, had paint coming off every panel, interior looks nice but you couldnt keep a glovebox or arm rest on.

Everyone knows of some shitty car thats running high miles now, and everyone knows of some amazing car produced that dies at very low miles. This argument is useless.

maybe youre just too cheap to properly maintain your car with proper parts, or maybe youre a driveway mechanic whos really bad at what he does. Who knows.

nice attempt, go back to sweeping the shop floor

I actually keep my cars very well maintained. The fact is that VW , among many other manufacturers, used some pretty cheap material. The paint on the first couple years of the mk4 were crap. The interior was great, felt nice, looks nice, with the exception of the arm rest and the glove box and the sweet cup holder design I never used. It was a shame my year had the lint trap seats too.
engine wise, nothing like replacing coil packs almost monthly and using VW parts.
Or better yet, the amazing window design that used plastic to hold the windows in place. It was awesome when my windows froze up and then dropped into my doors because of that crappy plastic piece. I was very happy when I replaced it with aluminum parts (which VW did in the later model years as well)

The 2 steering racks I replaced in a 2 month period were indeed my fault. no dought due to the suspension and the lip where they ripped up the road.

Forgot to mention, I am a VW lover and hate GM for the most part. But shitty is shitty no matter who produces it. Currently looking for a air cooled to build.

its getting a little old, come up with something new maybe atleast common

All the vw's I owned and including my B5 S4 have never had any major issues of any sort, and I do easily 600-700 kms of driving a week. Lets put an 01 golf on a lift and an 01 sunfire on the lift next to each other and see whos the most rotted out.

And my astrovan which was a complete pos still took a beating even with 360 000km on it

That was a dumb design, but at least there was an updated fix.

It's always entertaining to be behind a Malibu, Grand Am or a Venture in the drive thru, because if it's below freezing out, guaranteed they're opening their door to get a coffee.

i agree that the golf will be better than a sunfire. that doesnt say much though. you might be better off riding a big wheel rather than driving a sunfire.
6-700 km per week. Thats decent. I currently do an average of 1,300-1,500 km per week. I use my car for work (insurance adjuster)
My VW never needed major repairs with the exception of the steering rack a couple times. Its the little crap that sucked on it.

As for the shop letting you clean the floor, I guess after the time you've supposedly been there maybe they let you clean the toilets now. (or use you as the toilet, who knows)

yeah I was happy with the updated parts.
I actually have a new set with the cables and everything from VW. You have any use for it? (free) I have no use for it anymore

Seriously, I get to watch the "not working power window" ritual EVERY morning at the Tim Horton's drive thru- and it's a different car every day. Sadly I live in a really poony town filled with N bodies.

Took a good look at a few Sonics today. Do not want.

The plastic on the door cards is that brittle stuff that will be scratched to shit after a year of fingernails touching it reaching for the door handle, I was making trim pieces rattle by just tapping parts with my finger. Interior build quality was mid 80's Chrysler at best, but lacking velour. The seats felt like Aveo seats (That's a bad thing). The fog light surrounds rattle. The metal feels cheap and thin like an early Kia.

It just feels like an Aveo again. And looks like a squished Uplander van from the front.

An even uglier Aveo if you can believe that was possible.

I still wonder why they felt it was necessary to bring SO MANY of them to the show?

We had an Optra as our shuttle vehicle for a while, I hated it. What an awful piece of fuck.

One day.

And I want to be surrounded by nice-ness. Not dollar store sandwich container grade plastic.
