I test drove a Sonic the other night, along with a Cruize or what ever the Cobalt replacement is. I was impressed by both of them, but liked the Cruize better. The Sonic had a auto and the Cruize a manual. But the Cruize felt larger and better built and oddly enough was much cheaper of the 2 with similar equipment (except for the trans). It isn't a BMW, but then again, I didn't want a BMW.

looked at a brand new Volkswagen Beetle over the weekend. The redesign un-girl-fied the car and the price isn't bad for the Turbo Sport. Might actually drive it...

I've done the PDI on every single one we've had at the dealership. Absolutely love them, they feel like they're carved out of a single piece of metal, and the interior details are nice. The 2.0T with the 6 speed is a blast. I'm a huge fan of the redesign.

I'm in utter disbelief at what I've just read. But I kinda want to bake you some cookies now or send you a gift card for Applebee's or something.

(VWVortex built this one)

And the 270 hp Beetle R

i didn't get all gushy over the interior as I think it's a little plain (that's a VW/Audi thing anyway), but it reminded me of a friends old Super Beetle.
the other one I was looking at was the "retro" Beetle package with the striping and the old school looking wheels... The bitch? NOT ONE MANUAL SHIFT ON THE LOT!!!!

I think the novelty of the retro wheels would wear off fast...I'm a huge fan of these wheels on the 2012 Beetle:

Really love the job they did on the redesign. Can't wait til bandi buys one lol...

^Those are my favorite stock wheels. They look like Porsche Fuchs.

I haven't seen the retro wheels in Canada yet. They're neat, but I think I'd prefer something a bit racier.

I love the retro wheel option.

Of course, steelies and baby moons make any car look good.

having a really hard time making this decision folks.
i like the Beetle.
The Sonic is a little small for me and i am not crazy about a 5door.
the Cruze is ok, but again, i'm not crazy about a sedan.

I don't know, i priced out a 2012 Camaro 1LT late last week.
Here's the rundown:

1EF37- Camaro 1LT coupe
Summit white
black sport cloth seat trim

-High wing spoiler $615.00
-Air bags, dual-stage frontal+ blah blah blah
-Floor mats, carpeted
-Black stripe package $470.00
-Sunroof, power w/express opening & venting $900.00
-Directions & Connections Onstar Service
-Differential, limited-slip
-Engine, 3.6L SIDI DOHC V6 VVT
-Transmission, 6-speed manual
-New York, New England et al emissions
-Tires, 245/55R18 touring blackwall allseason
-Wheels, 18" painted aluminum
-no spare tire
-Convenience & Connectivity Package $360.00
-top end audio system $495.00
-license plate bracket front
-shift knob, leather wrapped

$29,165 delivered

Comments? And no bullshit anti-GM shit... i am trying to decide if I want another 4 year payment. I've always wanted a Camaro...

Anyways.

Well, Beetles ARE my favorite type of car, so my opinion is slightly biased.

I think the new Camaros are a pretty well built car, and the V6 sounds fantastic when you wind it out- and gets really good mileage.

Don't get me wrong, I REALLY like the look of the new new beetle... it's just, and i don't want to sound like shithead, but everyone I know that has had a VW has had problems with it down the road. I am a long-term owner. by that, i mean, i usually keep a car 5 years +.

i think i am going to go with the Camaro.

That is a good question....I'm not a fan of VV Electrical, which is surprising since basically Robert Bosch himself told VW what to do!

Honestly, I am doing a fraction of the electrical repairs here that I was doing at GM. I was expecting VWs to be kinda finicky and problematic when I started working here, but honestly, I'm very impressed.

most of the electrical problems that I see (mostly through interaction with my brother the GM tech), involve the SUV's and pickups and their AWD/4wd systems. With VW, it seemed that their problems revolved around transmission/engine management and getting in and out of the fragging thing.

i don't know... i'm going to drive the Beetle tomorrow and see what it's like.

Drove a fully built camaro today, super charged, headers, exhaust, aggressive cams, fueling etc...

Besides the fact that I can actually see the gas gauge going down under full throttle the car is a monster and a half, and it sounds amazing.

The only thing I dont like is I feel dwarfed by the interior of the car, and the blind spots are a plenty.

Car is slowly growing on me
