Man, I'm psyched to come exploring with you guys sometime! ^^ The house in the woods is, honestly, more of a cottage sort of affair. It has about four, maybe five rooms, and houses only a table, sofa, someone's old biology notebook, and a telephone book that I think was about ten years old. Considering the ten to fifteen minute walk through buggy and quite uninteresting woodland to get to it, it's a bit of a letdown. I think there are also a couple of old and clearly broken down cars, a garage (probably empty) that's padlocked shut quite securely, and some stairs that lead down to what looks like a collapsed cold storage of some sort. As to the house on Acres in the site -- that could be it. Personally, I haven't been there, as my friend ditched me and went with her boyfriend instead. ^^; Haha. She said it was quite interesting when she went, though!

Ya been in that situation a few times (walking for a long distance expecting to find the UE holy grail only to discover a shack containing a bird's nest). I'm pretty sure the house on Bethesda you refer to is the one that has now been restored and presently lived in. I was interested in it as well but fortunately (not for us) it's been restored to a habitable state. Looking forward to exploring our regions together (that sounded dirty). I meant the regions of Durham, Kawartha and Peterborough...

Actually, we must be referring to different houses. While the house I speak of is probably still habitable, it is /completely/ boarded up, and no one at all lives there. How do I know? It's directly across the road from where my best friend lives. xD We go and sit on the roof quite frequently. I know that it's privately owned, but I believe that the new highway will go through there, should they ever actually get around to it. And yes, exploring should be quite fun! ^^ I'm stoked!

I think there are two on Bethesda. The one just recently renovated and the other with the gray boards covering the windows
Calvin: It's a magical world, Hobbes, Ol' Buddy . . . let's go exploring! |

Seeing as the Fedge Explorations office is at 4100 Bethesda Road, I'll take a slow and detailed drive up the street tomorrow and see what's up.

I visited the office last week and was turned away at the door. Something to do with a dress code violation

We're sorry - that was en error on the part of our newbie security guard. He has since been transferred to our Timmins branch. You are, of course, welcome anytime at 4100 Bethesda Road.

Hahahaa. xD I looked at the house number today, as my bus drives past the house every day ... Pity I don't remember it. Something -31. 2231? Gah. >< It's just up the road from the Bethesda Cemetary (another place I spend far too much time xD). There's not too much actually inside the house, though -- no furniture left that wasn't screwed down. There /is/ a new addition to the house, but I've never been in there, as the only way to get to it is through the basement, and you'd need a very sturdy ladder, which is one thing that my friend is sadly lacking. The most fun thing about that house is all the different ways we've got in over the past year. The poor owners must freak out whenever they come back to find the house absolutely untouched -- except for the door being unlocked. I hope the Security Guard has fun in Timmins ... (Sucker. Bwahahaa.)

Hi! My name is Stu and I live in the Durham/Chapel Hill region! I've always loved photography and have always wanted to do some urban exploring in the Raleigh/Durham area. I'm up at App right now, but I'll be moving to NC State next semester. Hit me up with a message if you ever want to organize some exploring!
|

Thanks for stopping by Stu. This is a forum for the other Durham, The Regional Municipality Of Durham in Ontario. You may want to check out these boards instead. Welcome to the site and ue in general though!

Hi KeinLicht! Pickering has the airport lands, which you've probably driven through a lot. Watch out for security. Lots of gems up there. Welcome to UER!

live in Markham, schooled in Oshawa, Pickering and Uxbridge are my stomping grounds on my bike. Oh, and I HATE transport Canada with a passion. They are knocking down all the good heritage houses. I am an outdoor living buff, I dream of the life unpaved.

Happy Thursday everyone, I'm CravenMorehead, currently residing in Markham. Been exploring for awhile now, and a member or UER since January. Durham seems like a hotbed for abandonments, looking forward to sharing with everyone!
