well this is what Wikipedia dug up

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bay_(TTC)

For anyone who wants some background info and some present info.

Link has nothing to do with lower bay

A headland is an area of land adjacent to water on three sides. A bay is the reverse, rather an area of water bordered by land on three sides. Large headlands may also be called peninsulas; long, narrow and high headlands promontories. When headlands dramatically affect the ocean currents they are often called capes. A bay generally occupies an area wider than a fjord but smaller than a sound or gulf, either of which may include one or more bays.

The link is right, it just didn't have the link tags so it got fucked up when you clicked it as it dropped the _(TTC) part: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bay_(TTC)

Here's a lockpick. It might be handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you.

well, toss this for a game of salad- I have been on Lower Bay, and made it into the A section of the Star for it.

(probably means someone will figure out who I am...if they are crafty enough!)

Who wants to figure it out? Who cares. This site is so old now, and so overexposed.

I am so tired of hearing about Lower Bay subway, ooooooo what a mystery.

For anyone who has not been down, take the tour next month and take photos from the subway windows.

Yeah, a scanner is a receiver. The TTC wayside frequencies are around 422-423MHz (Google "TTC Frequencies").

How do you get it? ebay, Radio World, Durham Radio, wherever.

Just a slight update for you guys.

A few hours ago, 2 males were arrested at Bay Lower station. They were spotted by a passing train using the wye.

To add to what others have said, the danger really isn't even revenue trains (misleading, as revenue trains haven't seen the station since the 60's, except for those weekend diversions a month ago). The danger is work cars. These are self-propelled, and don't have tripcocks. That means nothing will physically stop them, unlike a runaway train. I heard a story 2 years back or so of a work train that lost it's brakes around yonge/bloor and came whizzing down the Yonge line, eventually derailing at the curve at Union. Imagine being on the track when a train/car comes screaming around the corner going 60 with no way to stop.

If you're going to go to Bay Lower, don't be stupid. Learn how to read the wayside signals, bring a radio and ALWAYS have the ability to jump out of the way should a train decide to come through. My primary concern wouldn't be with getting seen, it would be with getting dead. If a train crew sees you, if they decide to call it in, you've probably got 3 or 4 minutes before someone starts coming your way.

And remember, you can go during Doors Open and skip all of the death defiance and risk of getting arrested!

Seriously, it's not worth all the trouble. It's just a subway station. I wouldn't feel sorry for anyone who got caught down there, such an un-necessary risk.

Yeah it is just a subway station, personally the tunnel run is the fun part of that trip.

Tripcocks work by engaging the train brakes. They won't help a regular train if it has a complete brake failure.

Close

They work by dumping the air in the cars, putting the car into "air emergency" which puts the brakes on.

If you knew what to monkey with, it'd be entirely possible to make it absolutely impossible for a train to stop. But, the chances of that happening just "by chance" is pretty remote.

*yawn*

Lower Bay sucks. There's 1000000 threads on here about Lower Bay, with a bunch of us disgruntled LBers complaining about how fucking boring it is.

If you want to see lower bay, just go to Upper Bay on a Saturday night, right around closing time. It's empty, it's dirty. Just like lower bay. Big FUCKING deal.

Whoopee!!!

Can we now close this thread?

Im interested in going to lower bay with my friend.
We are teenagers but we are set on getting in. We already tried the main metal doors from the Bay subway platform but of course we failed no matter how hard we tried. I'm wondering if there is ANY other way to get in at all without walking on the train racks because as you can see that is a big risk for death.
Anywho if nothing else is possible then we will possibly take the risk from Museum station. Can anybody give me any more information on this??

There was something about the third rail that seemed important... I forget if it was to avoid it, or to urinate on it. I guess you'll find out which, Eurotik.

I thought it was to walk on it since it's wider then the other rails and provides more stability?

Poke around the doors at Bay. Make sure you're incredibly obvious about it. If a TTC supervisor comes along, he'll give you a special tour.
