That didn't take long. I think it's only been abandoned for three or four years, probably just enough time for them to ink a sweet deal for the land. Any bets on what it'll be? I'm gonna shoot for commercial. Target and some other big box stores not yet in the area. It's got I-76 visibility and probably not zoned for residential. Anyway, this was a cool spot. I'd been there a few times, mostly at night. Not much machinery left in there but it was cool to wander since it was pretty big and untouched. LDB Entry for Full members: http://www.uer.ca/...ow.asp?locid=22949 I "corrected" some information, seeing as it'll probably become a Demolished/Publicly Viewable location soon.

| | | There may be little left by this weekend. You may be able to wander by the mexican workers who seem unconcerned about strangers, their super may or may not be there. Hard hat, and bright orange vest time? Ha!

Pretty close. I just read that the site is going to be a Lowes home center and another big store, I don't remember.

| | | Posted by floan Hey, I'm totally new here, ... I was wondering: 1) If there was anyone else on here who lives near/around Philly
|
Count me in as a new newbie living in/near/around Philly. I'd be well interested in checking out any of the easier sites in/near Philly, provided that someone wouldn't mind introducing me to the fine art of UE. Feel free to contact me via any of the fantastic methods listed just over to the left. [last edit 3/22/2006 8:56 PM by AmoulSolo - edited 1 times]

| | | Im from northwest philly and am new to this, all ive really explored is a dam with some sort of operation building nearby in northwest philly and a freight train tunnel near north philly. both seem easy, but the latter is really shady.

| | | it just occurred to me that i should post flicks, i believe im going back to the dam today, so ill have more pictures from there
(not at the same location, some gems under a turnaround thing for a septa train, i didnt get a chance to actually go down there yet though)
side tunnel in the freight train tunnel that leads about 4 blocks to a cop station parking lot
the non track half, its a wierd tunnel, goes back for a while before it splits into the tunnel the train emerges from (and makes an incredibly cool ominous buzzing noise and the non-track half

| | | George S. Webster and Samuel Tobias Wagner, "History of the Pennsylvania Avenue Subway, Philadelphia, and Sewer Construction Connected Therewith," Transactions of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Volume XLIV (December 1900), pp. 1-33 and plates I - IV. I downloaded this as a 20 sheet Portable Document Format file, probably from a Website for a Sewer Engineers' Association. I think I found the link somewhere on UER. Is the entire reprint something to post here, if I can't find the link?

| | | Last time I was by there it appeared as if they were going to remodel at least some of it. Or maybe they're just slow at demolition.

I think I posted that link a while back, when I posted some pics from the Reading RR viaduct that descended into the subway. http://www.sewerhi...900_aa07/index.htm
