If you are checking out Philadelphia Gear... Head down 23 into Bridgeport (just past King of Prussia). There are tons of places to explore back in the industrial park along the river. The big fire back there 4 or so years ago drove almost everyone out and made it a great place to explore. Just wear long pants/sleeves...lots of poison ivy and ticks! Follow 23 toward Conshohocken and you will find even more places along the river between Bridgeport and Conshohocken.

BTW Byberry is for the most part sold off or demolished...don't even waste your time. There is nothing there anymore. You are 10 years too late!!!

PHL Gear site is totally under construction now. Zip.

If your talking about the old cement works that's now owned by SKB, I stay out of there. SKB is crazy about security, and have cameras everywhere. There's a gas works next to it...911, remember? The old coke plant is long gone, other than that there's not much on the west side of the river between Bridgeport and Conshohocken. Right? I've walked those RR tracks between Bridgeport and Conshohocken. Conshohocken is very aggressive with it's redevelopment programs, ans as a result there is not much to be found in the way of abandoned plants, especially along the river.
Bridgeport is still quit active, but I haven't looked at the industrial park were the fire was, because it's mostly warehouses. There are sure to be some goodies in there, but a lot of the properties are not abandoned, and if not occupied, are for sale/lease.

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.

There is quite allot to explore in the Bridgeport industrial park ( 40° 6'27.09"N/ 75°20'19.86"W). There are tons of sub-basements and foundations exposed from buildings that were burnt to the ground. I can say there are a few "whole buildings"...leave it at that... I live 3 blocks from there so I drive by...walk in...almost every day. As far as further down 23...I wouldnt go into the Peco gas works, water treatment plant, or the quarry...they are heavily secured and very active. But.... Anyway, I was talking about the side by the river before phila news paper...there are a few abandoned trains down there in the woods by the dirt bike tracks (40° 5'34.50"N/ 75°19'25.98"W)...I can lead a horse to water but can't make it drink. The area is a fun side trip or quick stop off if you are in the area.

i am pretty sure the black-roof bldg across the river in norristown off ford st. is totally abandoned. drove right up to it one night a couple weeks ago but the bldg up against it is somewhat active. looks reasonably cool and relatively easy.
if i wasn't all dressed up and without a flashlight, i'd at least had a closer look. old red brick factory or something.

I thought the old Conte Luna plant looked cool. Wanted a pic of the sign, but it's gone. Last time there it looked locked up good. Real nice neighborhoods too.

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.

i live in south philly, theres a sh!tload of places here in sp, ive only sceen a site or two with buildings from down here. Mainly Mt. Sini Hospital, which is jus down the block from me, not in a good section of south philly though. then theres a few old factories down on oregon ave, twords the ss us. Theres a few buildings behind Inilex (thats a chemical factory down here) that are seperate from the plant itself, and accessable from the abandond train tracks. One is a warehouse, and idk what the other is and these many various places to look around down here. One that ive been in many times, but is very dangerous, is a factory behind rizo rink, theres one way in, and its a 2nd floor fire escape door. Me and my friends go in there and chill some times, the first floor has new security doors and a large loading dock garage door(new meaning 2 or 3 years ago they put them in).

The first floor is storage, and last time we were there it was filled with boxes and at the south end was all different type of road barriers (cones/yellow trash can things etc...) Last time i was in there was last summer. The entire building is dangerous above the 2nd floor, and in parts of the second it self. on the first floor theres a pad lock now from the outside door, but there wasnt a while back so it was possiable to have some one climb in through the fire escape and unlock the bottom door which is located on south washington ave. Another thing is, that behind the building, between rizo rink there may be another entrance. But that area is decayed to the point the concrete is crumbling and it is over grown, not to mention i think its the dwelling to a homeless man. its pretty kool, not alota police. but there is a security camera on the row stores in front of it. if you wanna check it out on google earth here-(39° 55'56.62"N/ 75°08'42.22"W)
