For the people(person) that are hating on me: I dont think you have kids in school!
Everyone else: Thank you for your support. I expected this post would die like the others after a day and the few people I have interacted with would have left a note or two.
I wanted people to know what is happening mainly for this forums sake and I didnt want you guys to think I was an ass!
YES where I live is ripe for exploration etc. But while all of this crap is going on, it would be in my best interests not to get busted for trespassing or who knows what else!!!! Just irritating this all had to happen when I JUST started posting my first DB's, grrr!

Hey, understood. That is one really crappy stunt pulled on you. All the best and I hope you succeed. As for the ass part, nope! You're going through a rough time and are reaching out for support. Again, best of luck I hope this crap storm clears very quickly!

And to use an old quote (Mark Twain I believe), "The law is a ass!"

Oh yeah, I feel your frustration. With my job, I have to be very careful where I walk. I can lose my job with just a trespass charge and like you, I have too much to lose. You and your family come first.
God bless.

Let me restate. I think schools need to take more responsibility in some situations (a possible advantage of private schools), zero tolerance is zero intelligence, and your treatment by the police was injust. I don't, however, agree with all your reasons for keeping your son out of school, and I'm speaking not as a parent but as someone who likes to think he remembers what grade school and high school were like.

I'm on your side regarding the legal issues, but I disagree about the reasons you got into this mess. I'm not "hating on" you, and after receiving your PM, I won't continue questioning those reasons on the public forum.

I just saw a story about another mother in Maryland who had the same thing happened, and has spent two nights in jail. The difference is, her kids were just skipping school.

When the report came on, I thought it was Walking Talking Poison and gasped.

That's fucked up. I miss anywhere from 10 to 20 days a semester, and the only thing I've gotten is the number of absences written on my report card, and they do that even if you have none.

I'd call a lawyer. The lacking Miranda Rights is a serious violation.

Fuck the public school system. Fuck it straight in the ear. Its a sad state of affairs when a school turns and issue like this over to the police before calling a meeting with the parents. Don't be a part of a system that would rather work against you than with you. Home school or private school your kids. Public schools seem want to blame parents rather than create a working relationship.

This has to be one of the most messed up stupid laws I ever heard of. WTP my heart goes out to you. EGV has some great advice. Also, *INSIST* on receipts for any fines / legal costs you have to pay. Be polite about it but insistent. Explain that you've paid the previous fine/bail and not had a receipt which caused problems.

Really this is the most incredible crap I've ever heard in my life. I can't belive it has happened in an "enlightened age" like today. There has been talk of introducing such laws in Australia which I thought was a good thing until now.

All my best wishes and the best of luck with this.

Like Doug said, move to Australia. If you do I'll even give you a free car. Not a new car but it goes fine.

I hope you do stay in contact. I think that certainly a few of us here would be willing to contribute to a fighting fund if you need it. Be sure to ask if you do.

Live your life like it really makes a difference.
What have you done today to make you feel proud?

Just a little update, a rant, and something that made me laugh!!!
Ill start with the funnies. This note was sent home with my son a few days ago. Please pay particular attention to the second paragraph!!!

Apparently, even the teacher missed a bunch of school due to the flu. I wonder if she is getting arrested! If youre going to persecute parents about students not being there, should you fry a teacher too? =P

Update part of all this....When I went to court today, there were several other parents there for the same thing. One parent had doctors notes for the dates that she was charged....I was expecting the judge to dismiss it after he saw the notes, but he didnt. I know after what I have already gone through, to expect any reason in law here is somewhat optimistic and dumb. But what more proof do you need that you werent neglectful???
The lawyer I had hired was under the understanding that my case was filed as a felony, which is the prosecutors option. Once he found out it was a misdemeanor, he said he could not represent me because he was also a misdemeanor judge or had been one so it would be a conflict. So back to square one on the attorney thing. He did recommend a good one, of course he costs twice as much =S
My actual trial date is June 13th. There is some pre trial thingy the judge said I can go to and speak at, but Im legally clueless. Anyway, I ask you all to cross your fingers, pray, chant, raise a glass of grey goose for me that I get out of this damn thing!

On to my RANT!!!! Wouldnt you damn know it, the house I have been ACHING to go into is all of a sudden being gutted! And theres not a DAMN thing I can do about it. I KNOW it would have been a cool place to look at cuz the old lady died there and there were never any trucks or other thing that came and took things out of there. I LOVE places like that. They are like living museums of a persons life. Well, not now, I see trucks loading up bathtubs and toilets and furniture. It just ticks me off, I SO would have been there except for fear of breaking bond and getting into more trouble. GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!! =P Shit happens I guess =(

looks like you got unwittingly suckered into one of those locales that preys upon people by dragging them into the court system and bedraggling them with fines and probation for as long as possible.

cough up the cash for a good doctor and good lawyer, and move the fuck away from anderson. i've been there. my cousin lived there for 2.5 years. it was a shithole. move to indianapolis or muncie or something...your kid(s) will thank you in 20 years.

Well, for anyone that remembers me, just a little update on what happened.....

I was offered "divergence" by the prosecutor and advised by my lawyer to take it. If you dont know what this is, its basically agreeing to be good for a year and not get in to trouble. The only PLUS is that you do not make any admission of guilt, and it does not stay on your record once the year is over. I wanted to fight it more, but he said the only other good outcome he has seen is probation which stays on your record, is much more invasive, and you get to pay a lot more for. The divergence cost me $300 but I think a year or two paying for a PO would have added up to more. Of course to add to the fun and games I dont get my damn bond back until the year is up, so I am still dirt poor.

I dont want to push my luck too much as Im happy to have my freedom. But I am sitting here thinking of new and better excuses to explain why Im in abandonments, lol. I went back to one of my DB entries the other day just for the heck of it. A few new doors were opened. Perhaps Ill go back and take a few new shots =)

Thanks again to everyone that posted their well wishes =D

Man... I have to agree on these zero tolerance policies being utter crap. I mean, in my sophomore and junior years of high school (back in the mid-to-late 90's), we had a room specifically designated for students to smoke in. And now, a kid can't even have a cigarette butt in the ashtray of their car (which are subject to random search if they are in the school parking lot) without getting suspended.

I'm glad you were offered a divergence on this. Sounds like a fair way out of an unfair situation.
