| | | Posted by Freak I can't find the model or any photos, but Asylunt has an awesome flashlight that looks like a Star Trek phaser. I think it has multiple white leds in the front and a flashing red scanner thingy in the handle.
|
I believe they sell it at target. they had one that looked like a phaser for $12. It had a bar of 5 LED's in the front. Made by Vision perhaps?

| | | I've been using Petzl Tikka Plus for some time now, and I think it´s very useful for walking in the dark (in drains etc.), and for longer distance I have used oldschool Maglite 3D. Sometimes I carry the Tikka and small but powerful Underwater Kinetics 2L model in my pocket, if I'm just looking for new places to explore and don't want to carry a backpack. The UK 2L is nice one, but new batteries (camera lithiums...) cost little bit too much.

| | | I have a little cheap trinket radio/torch I got for $1. It works surprisingly well, although I usually take an extra light with me; at the moment that's an Eveready industrial. I like it because it's easy to find if you drop it.

My buddy has one of those, its pretty decent, only drawback is it has one switch for all 4-5 light options, if you need to turn it off quickly you may be screwed

| | | -2AA mini-mag -3D Mag (on sale for $9 at Lowes Hardware right now) -Cheap eveready 2AAA I keep in the pocket on the arm of my flight jacket -and a $5 special of two 2D and two 2AA pieces of junk I keep for backup. I want to check out an led but I'm rather broke at the moment and I think a 6V is something that is more of a neccesity at this point. For those of you with Militar L shaped lights, about how much did that cost you? I assume it was bought at a surplus store and I as just wondering the price range along with teh fliters (which should be included) Oh yeah, and I've spent alot of time on military bases in the US and some in Canada and I've never seen an MP use a blue light or filter, they have blue flashing lights on their vehicles but that's about it.

| | | nope, I dont think anyway, I believe he was talking aboot this one
there is 5 white leds in the main area, you can turn 3 on, 5 on, then in the bottom there are 2 red leds, they can be on steady, or flash, the description @ target I believe is incorrect http://www.target....F8&asin=B0001ZPWUM

Yeah, it's always good to carry one of those as an emergency back-up.

| | | I use a 12-volt miner's headlamp, a 3 D-cell Maglight, with another maglight, 6 D-cell as back-up, or maybe it's the 6 cell one i use, and keep the 3-cell one as back-up.

| | | I got me this little electro magnet LED flashlight that you shake, sliding the magnet past the coil for about 30 seconds to a minute and it lights up the subway tunnels surprisingly well. It's about the size of a 2c maglite, but you don't have to pay for batteries, I'm so cheap. I think you should all chip in and get me that fleshlight .. It looks great for lonely explorations, or lonely walks through the park.. or lonely trips to the bathrooom at school, or lonely waits in line at the hot dog stand or DMV.. or anywhere I guess.

| | | Normally, I used a black maglite (3 D cell variety). However, it got hard to use my camera and operate the flashlight at the same time. So, on advisement from Pathwalker I picked up a very inexpensive, but useful head lamp at Wal-Mart. It is made by Energizer and comes with three Energizer AAA batteries. It has an adjustable head strap and can operate in white, or infrared mode. The light itself also has full tilt capabilities and only costs around 12 dollars. The only drawback with this particular model is that the cushioning is not so comfortable and it helps if you wear a hat with it.
Oh my God! It's full of stars! |

| | | I can vouch for the Princeton Tec Surge that MacG recommended a while back. Received mine a month ago, had a chance to use it on a trip last weekend and it works quite well. It's also quite a deal, considering it uses standard batteries and is waterproof.
