That said, I still don't give a shit about Shiroi meets, his antics, or any of the people who don't like the meets, or this thread. Just because you disagree with this whole notion doesn't mean it should be removed from the forums.
If I were to lock or delete every thread someone disagreed with, I can assure you there wouldn't be much of anything left. I personally don't look at this as urban exploration, but I could say that for the actions of many people who have come through these forums. Then again, I've never been to a Shiroi meet, so I can't say with absolute certainty. I've met him, however, and I really don't think he's some sort of asshole out there to ruin the fun for other explorers.
The meets are loosely related to urban exploration in that they occur in abandoned locations. If I moved/deleted the thread, I'd have people screaming at me about it's geographic relevance. If I leave it alone, you guys are going to get upset.

Why the hell can't some of us party? Maybe there are people in the community who like to party. If you don't like it, don't attend; don't make a fuss just because you see other people doing something you may not like. If having fun to someone is watching some dude beat himself up while you explore, then respect it and just move on.

I too was at the last shiroi meet and was very disappointed. The meet was very poorly planned and shiroi was constantly attracting negative and simply juvenile attention to himself. He set off an alarm like 5 times, come on, there has got to be some un written UE rule about that. What shiroi is doing is criminal, well it isn't til he gets caught but he is streaking at an active paintball field with children present. Thats indecent exposure, disturbing the peace and criminal mischief. Shiroi is lucky he didn't break his neck tumbling down that cliff.
Shiroi I hate to be an asshat here and flame you but you really are out of line calling it an exploration meet. Outside of the amusement park shiroi didn't even know where the next site was, which added to the confusion of the VERY poorly choosen meeting spot of Fortino's on Centennial parkway. It took me liek 15 mintues to drive to fortinos from the QEW, we could have just met on burlington st, its like a highway. Fortino's was very much out of the view from Centennial and the instructions in vineland were simply "Fortino's [exit number which I forgot]" I mean not even a street name was given. When I arrive at Fortino's what do I find? Shiroi playing with Shopping carts! Thats a page right out of jackass. We're using a public active venue as a meeting place and shiroi is behaving in a manor that should have had us all removed from the property.
I am certainly not the only one upset about that meet, I drove down from T.O so I can't complain. However people drove down from Barrie and even farther for what, to witness an episode of jackass?
The Shiroi meet was my first meet and boy was I upset, nobody at any point try to plan anything strategic with regards to entering defasco. I read all these articles about not using flash around windows, being in plane sight, trying your best not to be noticed and what happens at a meet? Instead of walking along the rock wall out of sight about 20 of us "UE's" climbed the rockwall and walked on defasco property in plane sight of an earth mover who clearly reported us to security.
A friend and I were stopped by security after hiding for 20 minutes. They were nice and were only concerned about our safety. Rightfully so since Shiroi was replling off chains that are god knows how old. All I know is the day Shiroi hurts himself, im not sticking around to answer the paramedics questions.
I have to agree with Lost and Axle these meets are not UE. They are poorly organized mischeif festivals which will no doubt lead to some sort of negative press. All you need is 1 slow news day, and 1 bored reporter to really sour the view of UE in Ontario.
Shiroi, I really wish you did do drugs or at least drink. Might justify the behaviour.
This next shiroi meet will truly put the icing on the cake and re-iterate all the points expressed here. By what is disgustingly described in this thread Shiroi is going to continue his antics here in Toronto, and sadly I can only hope he's arrested while doing so.

I have the same concern as Phantom does, that if you get this group together and you do this crazy shit, you draw more attention to yourselves. You could get in serious shit and create an image for us that will hurt the explorers who are in it strictly for exploring.

The fact is that 'if you don't like it, don't look at it' doesn't work if your actions will affect us anyway. I know it's not guaranteed that it will, but it could and that's what has Phantom, and myself, worried.
And to those who would say 'you didn't go to the meet, you can't comment.' I read the write-ups, saw the pictures and discussed with people that were there because I would never EVER go to one of your meets. Personally I don't find your antics the least bit funny, but if I'm going to comment, I'm going to know what I'm talking about.

New guys like you are just way too paranoid. Many of the meets are less planned than mine was, and much less successful. How come you didn't mention that one of the illegal things I was doing was trespassing? I did that too. And I choose my battles, I don't do anything I know I won't be able to handle. I don't know if you noticed, but I had a trained professional medic attend the meet for this reason.
What, are you the kind of guy that never takes any risks? I bet when you watch comedies you find the slapstick humor revolting and juvenile, and anything even bordering on adventurous is just out of line.

My meet actually had a lot of plans, but they got ruined when I found out while at the waterpark that like 5 of the buildings were not available as of like the day before the meet, so it was like "wtf...so that means I have no idea where we can go next, it just ruined my schedule." I had to try to come up with ideas on the spot for the next places. You can't possible expect everything to go perfect at a UE meet. If you go to more meets, you'll see a lot of failure. UE is mostly about failure. Av knows it, Ninj knew it, most of the mods know it. And if it's the fact that I was "behaving in a manor that should have had us all removed from the property", it's true, I was. But you are too if you UE. I can't stand how people can call me out on doing illegal things when it's their hobby to do illegal things in the first place that we'd ever know of eachother.
The shopping carts thing was because we were bored and waiting for people. It wasn't part of the meet. Fortino's was not my idea, I was sort of dragged to another place right after the paintball thing.

You may not be the only unsatisfied, but the unsatisfied was few. Those who dislike it seem to be venting in this thread at the moment though. People shouldn't travel that far without knowing what they're going to! This reminds me of that episode of the Simpsons where Lisa is dreaming about herself being on stage at a concert. When she got on stage, she was booed by the audience. And she says "Why would you come to my concert if you're all just going to boo me?"

Don't be such a total wuss, you don't need stragetic plans to enter a building like Dofasco. Next thing you know, you'll be finding the blueprints for enterances for the Brickworks, have a 10 month planning session, build scale models depicting the way things will go down, then train for another 10 months on SE techniques in case anything was to awry, and finally spend $10,000,000 on survailence and spy gear to make sure everything is ok. Once you get in, you'd dispose of all the equipment and paperwork and deny everything.

Dude, that chain was fine. And security guards are always concerned for our safety. You probably never see anything interesting because you'll never take risks. If you looked hard enough, you'd see that Boffo and Lexi did something I considered too unsafe for me because I didn't trust my grip on the dust at the height they climbed.

If I get arrested, I'm not going to say "Hey! I'm just UEing! Go to uer.ca, and see for yourself!" I just accept it and go. I understand the risks. You don't see me hoping you get arrested for trespassing, so thanks man, thanks.

The police will never have a good idea of UE. I may draw a lot of attention, but it's expected. The police don't like trespassers, period. Want it to stop having a bad name? Why don't you sacrifice what you enjoy and stop UEing to help the community. Believe it or not, places get locked up because of people going in "just taking pictures", the cops don't care what you're doing, they don't want you there. If you're not a hypocrite, stop UEing. Trespassing is what gives UE a terrible name.

I'm glad you took the time to find out exactly what it is. It's probably why I wouldn't attend a Britany Spears concert, I just don't like it. You don't like me, I don't like Britany Spears, Britany doesn't have to deal with me at her concerts and I don't have to deal with you at my meets; we all win.

Thanks buddy! Why do show off locations to anyone? Everyone endangers how secure a place is. But don't think I wreck places, because I wouldn't. You should probably just stop UEing altogether, makes all the locations much less secure and it's too dangerous anyway. All the things I do is as silly as "singing in a drain" but a lot more dangerous for me (not the location).

I'm not against the idea of silliness, but the thought of you skiing down stairs and generally treating a location as though it's your own personal romper room just kind of rubs me the wrong way.

Yea, I'd hate it if cops were to arrest someone else claiming that "I know what you guys do here, you guys are dumb!" But I suppose that's the risk I have to take. I've been caught before where the guy is all like "are you ninj? I've seen your website, trespassing is not safe and very illegal; I think it's really dumb what you do."

funny thing is that that was the only stunt I was planning to do on site of an abandoned building. I sort of stray away from doing things in abandoned buildings more and more because I really do not want any of the places hurt. Sometimes I'll do things if I know I'm not going to wreck anything. The place I'm doing the stair stunt at, I have gone into and checked out and planned the stunt carefully.

Paranoid? An alarm went off like 5 times. UER isn't about harrasssing legitmate business owners. Thats what you were doing by dephiling yourself infront of children at a paint ball feild.

Alright if your plans were ruined I'm not going to argue with you there. We were at the waterpark WAYYYYY too long, the only reason I didn't just leave was that i had to see at least 1 more location to justify that drive.
The shopping carts were just plain stupid, people are still trying to find the place while your working on getting kicked out.
FYI, Tresspassing is NOT CRIMINAL. Thus it is not a crime, it is an offence under the tresspass to property act. YOU are the one committing crimes, the rest of us were simply violating bylaws (much like not stopping at a stop sign is not Criminal but against the Highway Traffic Act. However removing that stop sign would be Criminal)

Dude, that chain was fine. And security guards are always concerned for our safety. You probably never see anything interesting because you'll never take risks. If you looked hard enough, you'd see that Boffo and Lexi did something I considered too unsafe for me because I didn't trust my grip on the dust at the height they climbed.

So you weren't the only one being totally dangerous, I'll give you that. Climbing on those cat walks was just insane, at least they weren't being idiots at the waterpark. More importantly they kept to themselves. Yes I suppose everyone is entitled to decide what they do but the fact of the matter is they did so in private, not disturbing anyone else and not causing attention.
While you were waiting for people to exit defasco you began mooning innocent drivers using trixxie as lure. Though somewhat funny considering your waiting for people to get out of a building, that isn't the best time to attract more police attention. Mooning people is a crime, its indecent exposure and the police do respond to those calls.

The police will never have a good idea of UE. I may draw a lot of attention, but it's expected. The police don't like trespassers, period. Want it to stop having a bad name? Why don't you sacrifice what you enjoy and stop UEing to help the community. Believe it or not, places get locked up because of people going in "just taking pictures", the cops don't care what you're doing, they don't want you there. If you're not a hypocrite, stop UEing. If someone told you there were children, they lied. I ran all around that paintball field. It was a bunch of men and older teenage boys. Plus, I never showed my penis to anyone, why is a butt so offensive to you? And I've mooned police, POLICE, before and they just laughed.
Alright if your plans were ruined I'm not going to argue with you there. We were at the waterpark WAYYYYY too long, the only reason I didn't just leave was that i had to see at least 1 more location to justify that drive.

FYI, Tresspassing is NOT CRIMINAL. Thus it is not a crime, it is an offence under the tresspass to property act. YOU are the one committing crimes, the rest of us were simply violating bylaws (much like not stopping at a stop sign is not Criminal but against the Highway Traffic Act. However removing that stop sign would be Criminal)

I know the disclaimer. It doesn't apply to me because stunt work is actually something I'm trained for and plan on doing professionally as a career. Not to mention that I DID have trained medical assistance at the ready. Hell, I'm more qualified to do this stuff than they were in their first season.

Glad to see someone gets the big picture. I'm a total idiot, and people enjoy the meets. We are a group of our own interests. Just like some people like to watch baseball, I will respect that they like to watch baseball but I won't yell at them about how boring it is to me and that they shouldn't do it because of that. I will also not join them in watching said sport, but I would probably join them in going out to the movies (as long as it's not a baseball movie...I might even hate those more than baseball).

This whole thing is an excersize in poor taste, but I disagree with us not having a right to complain about taggers. We complain about taggers not because we think it brings unwanted attention to a location, but because it ruins the look of the location. And I agree, I don't have the right to complain about sites being locked up, but I don't think anyone here who trespasses has the right to complain about places getting locked up.
And I'm doing this for attention or because I'm "insecure". I can be quoted as even saying "I hope no more than 10 people show up so that we can actually explore." I try to invite everyone though, and I don't reject anyone who wants to come. Although I do like attention, it was suggested I make my meets, not because I wanted attention.

Your welcome! It's there so people don't actually mistaken it for a normal meet. I even made the picture with pictures in it showing what to expect. I even have a section stating what to expect.
