It comes from living in Hamilton, I think... I have the same problem. I'm pretty sure that tapwater here would have measurable levels of caffeine in it!

Nah, not just Hamilton. Does nothing for me either. For some reason Coke has more of an affect than any tourine related drinks.

Maybe if you guys lay off the caffeine for a while it will have a more potent effect in the future, just a suggestion.

Here's a lockpick. It might be handy if you, the master of unlocking, take it with you.

Hey, I ran into some of you guys.

I recently flew in from Vancouver to visit the folks, and when my friend and I entered the brickworks, we heard a tremendous ruckus, but I assumed it was normal for people to practice their jihadi war cries there. Then we see 20 people walk out the door to the courtyard and I run into Jupiter and his girlfriend. We went to the same middle and high school.

I'll post photos after I get back to the west coast.

One thing I want to say is that you guys here are in a bleeding renaissance of UE. There are gigantic, easily accessible, and well-preserved abandonments everywhere (thank you low property value).

Just the CMP, Hearn, Lakeview, and Brickworks alone is way impressive, let alone all the second-class abandonments. Amazingly, Ontario rather likes to keep these buildings around and not tear them down within the year that they're abandoned (unlike the Molson Beer plant in Vancouver).

Meanwhile, the best most memorable sites I've been through in the west were the construction sites and the now elusive UBC steam tunnels.

I'll be in town for a few more days, so if people want to go check out some prominent sites, let me know.

whats lakeview?

It is the world's largest Coal Generating stations, recently shut down. It was famous for 'the four sisters' the four stacks at the plant, demolished on June 12th, the stacks, the main plant is still standing.

An amazing place to visit, if you ever get the chance. If you've ever been to Hearn, just think of it as Hearn tripled.

CMP & Hearn being Lakeshore properties.....for years nobody has spent any money down there to fix up,tear down or build new. That's why the lakeshore has died!

Like your Molson plant in Vancouver....same goes here all the time. Par example....Labatt's plant in Toronto (401 & 427 area) is currently being dismantled by Murray Demolition and it's within it's recently closed. Might be a spot to check out before you leave.

After CMP, Hearn & Brickworks you run thin on good BIG expo spots quickly. Lakeview is like an impossible mission, same for Maple Leaf Gardens, GM plant was flattened.

I wouldn't say that Lakeview is like an "impossible mission." It's easy to do, even during the day. Anyone visiting Toronto should probably go there before even considering Labatt's which is currently much harder to get into and probably a lot less interesting, too.

micro is right.
Lakeview isn't hard at all. Apparently, there is on-site security, but the plant is so large that you never encounter them. If you go with a small group, and are prepared for the hour hike through rocks, bush, and sand along Lake Ontario, then getting in is quite easy.
There are still some workers there.. we encountered them on the way out.. but they ethier didn't see us, or didn't bother going after us.

Wow....who'd have known security would be so lax

I stand corrected

Put Lakeview on your list of places to go

don't forget poo water.

and that probably wasn't security. More likely other explorers or scavengers. If security had seen a group our size they wouldn't have stood there looking like a couple of deers caught in the headlights.
