| | | Posted by person I've always been kind of confused by the whole full member thing. Being a full member gets you access to the DB, which is okay, I guess... but to me, it seems like that almost takes some of the fun out of UEing. I've always loved driving around the city, scouting places, going through city records - all that good stuff. Locations are just so much cooler when you find them yourself.
|
That's the spirit person, you're going to go far here! And like Misfit, I was one of those people who gained full membership based on my contributions to the site.

| | | Might seem kind of negative, but my answer is...who cares? 1. Who cares about full membership. 2. Seems like an elitist thing to me, so its a turn off. 3. Do your thing, talk to people and learn, I assume thats why we are all here. 4. If they want to change your status, neat. If they dont, refer to #1. 5. Go outside, and have a good time exploring with friends.
And now I have 2c less in my pocket.

I suppose thats another way too look at it. But when you get full membership, you get alot more options then a basic member.. like there would be members only meets, and you get a better list on your exploring page thing.. Like..everything ive been too is not on my list.. but its on the data-base..so if i got full membership..it will then become on my list..

| | | I applied and got turned down...funny thing is I applied to be able to add to the DB, not find places from it. Entire new locations, rather than posting a pic here and there. Unless others here have been running around on the Rez and other places I know I just can't see the locations yet! Thought it would be cool to do something with the pics I've amassed. I'm also kinda quiet by nature, but try to go against my nature add in when I can Eagle Crow

Yeah, it is kind of an elitist thing, but I think that's a good thing. UE is a topic that deals with a lot of sensitive information that not everyone should have access to. I think it's much better to have locations and threads that are only accessible to a select group of people who we know we can trust.

well, that's the point of having full member status. If nobody knows you and not sure if they trust you, then you're gonna get denied. It's to keep those really sweet locations in the database out of the wrong hands. And I don't take it elitist at all. A lot of people do and treat basic members like crap, and that's not right..

| | | Honestly here is my 2 cents on the whole Full Membership thing... It took me about 2 months to get full membership here after i registered. I was of course excited to see the entire LDB once i became a full member, but honestly, i got no real use out of it. In my opinion the biggest reward you can get on UER is a good group of friends. I know i've made a few real good friends here.

| | | I am not a Full Member and I've been here for a long time. Despite visiting every few days, I do not contribute in any real way. Hell, I rarely even login. It would be nice to have access to the restricted sections but as long as the photography/location db is public I'm a happy man. Now back to lurking...

| | | The majority of the location database isn't public. Only destroyed buildings and locations that the creator has labelled public are viewable by non full members.

I see. I was aware that the restricted section contained some really good sites but I didn't know that the majority of the db was there. Maybe I should pursue full membership?

It's worth it if you think you'll use it. Even if you won't get much benefit, it isn't hard to get FM.
It seemed like a good idea at the time... |

Level 1- Guest, no login... you're a lurker. Level 2- Basic member Level 3- Full member Thats how I understood it.. Then there's something about the 13th Level.. That's classified information though....
