Reminds me of my car club and the battles between the "mod'ers" (who take a car and express themselves with it by adding personal modifications) and the "purists" (who want to restore to original spec with NOS parts so help them god). | | | a general confusion exists amongst UER members about what exploring is going on long before I joined this website I think yeah ya know it is possible to explore something youve never seen before, even if somebody else saw it before when did exploring become restricted to places nobody else ever went? this isnt going into another rant about the great pyramids and Marco Polo meets Admiral Byrd etc is it? Lewis and Clark the great explorers explored the Missouri River same river the indians had been pissin in since the last ice age right? explore the possibilities lest we run out of places to explore..

| | | Posted by Chrysis Personally.... I enjoy the pissing contests, and I love big dicks.... and even if the stream of piss is aimed at me, I could care less. If I like a place and someone else doesn't, who gives a fuck... I like it and that's all that matters to me. Its nothing personal. And since there aren't any larger places here to check out, I do live vicariously through others experiences on here. I enjoy seeing the architecture and the combination af grandeur and decay. But I have a soft spot for personal effects that may give me a glimpse into the lives of whomever had occupied the place. Graffiti just doesn't impress me. I personally do smaller, older homes and historic sites. Mainly because that is all that is available to me here, but also because of the low risk of injury or arrest. Call me a pussy, I don't care. I have my little adventures without having to explain to my husband or kids why I'm in the hospital or locked up. (PLus, I have been told many, many times that if I get arrested, to NOT call home!!) People just need to calm down and not take things personally.
|
I like you, I hope your a new member and not some old one lurking here afraid to share their opinions. Basically what you said "you need to calm down and not take yourself so seriously" is what I believe relates well to this thread. Discussions of personalities and quantifiable measurements of what make this tourism, exploration, or adventure are all just hyperbole. In the end it is a past time for most, and because the 'exclusivity' people demand around here (hating n00bs, mis-information) and so forth, it will continue to be a clique and love-in based community of people wagging their cocks around and pissing on everyone else in sight. I wish that I could say more, and hope that it could be more, but more time is spend here having debates about canon vs. nikon, and why peeling paint in asylum sucks then actually useful, conducive information about exploring. What I really like on this site is Siologen's Drain of the week. Its great, descriptions, photos and no ego. Its a benchmark.

*whispers while looking around* Same here. Just don't tell all the bad people. They'll laugh at us.
Good question. What one person calls "exploration", another will call it "tourism". Also, not everyone likes the same thing. Exploring to me means going where you haven't been before and learning about new things. Whether that is with a tour guide, a group or all alone. In a small way, tourism is a form of exploration. Albeit sanitized. And it's better than sitting on your ass all day doing nothing. Just my $0.02 worth.
Gone for a while. Be back when I'm back. |

Thing I always loved about urbex was the lack of rules - you were free to explore however, and whatever, you liked. Ignore the haters. btw, what is female cock waving? clit waving? Is that even possible

No cock waving going on here, unless from time to time its attached to someone else. Boob grabs *giggles* ... It's been used to distract security before, but never in forum. Like Ds said, I like the lack of rules and such, and I'm greatly annoyed by the anal-retentive ones which just interfere with the fun I actually have, particularly when the ones who preach the most -- usually are the biggest hypocrites. It's the bad natured stuff I don't like, mis-information and such which I think will prevent many people from trying this hobby/pastime/obsession out. Some people seem to develop an attitude here overtime, mostly for the worst and I think its because they forgot that they started somewhere once too -- someone showed them and told them about something/place which they wouldnt have known otherwise about. Sure I've made fun of barns and houses, but in the end I'm sure some people don't like my heavy industry stuff. Oh well. I'll continue on with industry and infrastructure and all the other stuff I shoot/explore. I like it. [last edit 3/18/2007 2:31 AM by Air - edited 1 times]

| | | Posted by Captain Obvious Webster's English Dictionary defines exploring as: to travel over new territory for adventure or discovery So what's with this my-spot-is-better/bigger-than-your-spot, I've-visited-more-places-than-you crap? This isn't about kills, like we're painting little buildings on the sides of our respirators.

I love some of the entries in the UE database that have "secret" names so no one but the folks who found them will know. Thank god they give us little hints. I don't think UE is as bad as some other sites on the web for that sorta stuff.
