"They" won't let me take them because I'm not supposed to even know they exist. They're stored in a secure archive storage facility. Asking permission to borrow them would kinda show I've been snooping.

In the mean time, try taking a look at the Metro Reference Library, Urban Affairs Library and the City of Toronto Archives. I'd bet they would have info there you could take a look at.

Because "they" are in the business of making money, pretty much.

Imagine walking into Radio Shack's head office and asking for a copy of the 1978 catalog. They'd tell you to FO, but they surely have copies. Why? There's no financial incentive to "be nice", so to speak.

'Hey man, I'm working on it...' Jono

Hey Jono I know you're working hard on it Just wanted to know if other's ever wondered about this place! And get their feedback comments etc Hopefully we can get some other old pix of it that would be cool inside shots
thx all jonesy

I was looking for this place when I was in Toronto in July. I read somewhere that the building was either finished or in the process of being finished so I gave up.

I think it was near DVBW's.

40+ year olds with Myspace pages are not cool, they are pediphiles on the prowl. Buyer beware.

That's just it Mutt I can't post it I have e-mailed the link to myself and I can open link from there but when I drag the link into this box it disappears!? The only way that I think I can post it is if I hand type it but I don't know if that will allow other's to just click on it and open up the link? Any ideas other than someone else posting it for me? pls let me know as I have dragged and dropped other links but this one won't work for me? And I don't know why?

Here is a some what 'new' story concerning property where the 'Bayview Ghost' once stood! Hopefully this link will work for you? Please don't bitch as there is not 'tons' of info out there about this place as it was demoed long ago but still shrouded in mystery none the less! So pls enjoy what we can find thus far and if you can contribute stories, thoughts , memories PIX etc etc please do so! And personal Thx to Jono as he is doing alot of research concerning this 'once was' "unfinished" building And to all whom have contributed. Somewhat Sadly we did the UE thing years ago but never thought of photos but what did we know? Then? I'm personally glad that we are doing so now 'cause once it's gone it's gone!
thx jonesy enjoy

Hi all ... I'm the curator of the 2001 City of Toronto Archives exhibit that featured a section on the Bayview Ghost from which derives the brief text synopsis (plus the Trussler photo) that have been linked to on this forum already (and which form the basis for the Wikipedia entry on the Ghost). I visited the Ghost twice, July 16, 1980 and July 22, 1981. On both occasions I took many photographs. I'm attaching three here, one from my first visit, a view of the west wing from a balcony of the east wing, and two from my second visit, one of a hallway on the 7th (top) floor, and one of an access point between the upper two (6th and 7th) floors. Please respect my rights as photographer and copyright holder. I will be happy to share more if the forum is interested!

Hi all ... another ten Ghost pix from my visit on July 22, 1981. 3 exteriors, 4 interiors, a shot from the rooftop, and two shots of entry points. One of the entry points was pretty straight forward ... climb a propped girder to a balcony and go in through the open window frame. The other entry involved climbing a girder to an opening, followed by crawling across a girder straddling an open stairwell. Of course it was the 2nd, more difficult entry point that I used to get in (that's how I got in on my 1st trip a year earlier) ... I only discovered the easier access point on my way out! Inside, the stairs had been removed on the blocked-up 1st and 2nd floors, and eroded beyond use on the upper 6th and 7th floors. Two of the interior shots show access points between the upper floors and the roof in the absence of the stairs. Hope everyone enjoys these pix and I will post more when I get a chance.

No Way! That's amazing - thank you so much for sharing with us ! You should make a LDB entry for it. And I enjoy that they are natural shots, as opposed to official-documentation style.

There should be a word to describe nostalgia for something you never saw or experienced.

Hi all ... many, many thanks for your comments. They're very much appreciated. It's funny ... I visited and photographed the Ghost twice, way back when ... when I was an OCA student, as groundwork for a larger project I was working on, but I never did anything with the photos at that time, or any time since, until now ... I happened to stumble across this thread as part of my work at the archives (as I've said, I featured it in an exhibit I curated in 2001) and felt I had to join uer just to share the photos! ... so I'm glad they are of interest. Attached are five pix from my 1st visit in 1980. The first shot is the first I took of the Ghost, visible in the distance, on the left, viewed from an abandoned stretch of Pottery Rd, which used to run down from Broadview, across the valley, and then back up the other side. Enjoy.

Ten more photos from the 1981 visit. Two of the shots are taken from the weather eroded 7th floor units, without ceiling and walls.

jonsey: you asked what was painted on the building in one of the shots previously posted ... I can't remember! ... from the photo, all we can see is GRADUATE P_____ERS ARE [THE] BEST! ... if anyone can help with the missing word, that'd be great!

jono: I understand from your previous posts you've been into the archives to do some research ... on your next visit, check out the information file on the Ghost in the Research Hall ... I've recently added a pile of newspaper articles on the history of the failed development from the Globe and Star ... if you haven't already seen these, they might be of interest. Also, you suggested I add an LBD entry ... I'm new to uer, so I'm not exactly sure what that is (?) Anyway, I thought your "there should be a word to describe nostalgia for something you never saw or experienced" was great!
