| | | What's a Sk8er Boi to do? < on 3/13/2008 3:57 PM >
| | | Perhaps it was doomed to begin with. Clarington built a skateboard park at a not-too-cheap cost for the local sk8er boiz. Not to imply all sk8er boiz are thugs but locating the park right beside the local cop shop may have had something to do with the dwindling attendance. Local council has decided to close and dismantle the park after a de facto abandonment by the sk8er boiz. Where will they go to skate now?

| | | thats one small park. as someone who skated for 14 years, I would avoid that park like the plague. small park + cop station + little kids - no drinking or smoking pot = =(
40+ year olds with Myspace pages are not cool, they are pediphiles on the prowl. Buyer beware. |

| | | Perhaps no one knew it was there! It doesn't look like much fun either.

| | | What the hell? What's the point in 'dismantling' it? Is that small ass piece of land worth the trouble? And I've biked at parks that small. They can be ok; but are terrible if you get >4 people.

| | | How about no smoking pot or drinking in the first place? That's all the Police need to see... They already think skaters are hoodlems...

| | | "We the city, are improving our communities by providing safe places for our children to play!" The city of Toronto designed and built a "so called skate park" in East York. As a long time skater myself, i took one look at the park and shook my head. Who the hell designed this park? They must have held a contest for kids 8-12 years old, to design a skate park out of lego, then copied it to a tee! The transitions are at 45 degree angles, the kidney shaped bowl has a roll-in with such a sharp angle your deck will bottom out then stall. Most of the stair sets, rails and curbs are positioned in such a way that their almost useless! Great P.R. Toronto... What a waste, them might as well bull-doze this one too! They say "you can't judge a book by its cover!" I say "YES you can, if the cover has a girl on it with a cock in her mouth, its PORN!" if she's 18 and the cock is black, its GREAT porn! |

Yeah, most of the city parks I've seen have been pretty small and lame looking. They could have put their eggs in one basket and designed a large park...like the one they had between yonge and bay on Wellesley like 12 years ago (no not the indoor park in the alleyway!). It wasen't there for very long, then park was dismantled and it stood as an empty lot for at least 8-9 years. [last edit 3/16/2008 2:41 PM by Air - edited 1 times]

| | | I read this thread and noticed at Downsview airport they have a skatepark called "the rail". I went in to take a look around and it seemed like the sorta place parents drop their kids off to enjoy a peaceful Sunday. I remember like 5 years ago they hired a security guard specifically to chase away kids who skate board at empress walk. hah I'm glad I snowboard instead of skateboard.
Real stupid to put a skatepark next to a cop station. Should put it next to an lcbo and head shop :p [last edit 3/17/2008 5:02 PM by Aggressive - edited 1 times]

But most skaters aren't old enough to buy alcohol.
