Tim's Backyard

I stumbled across this place on my way up north to open up the cottage this morning. BTW, as I turned onto Hwy 48 it started to snow. Snow! It's almost June for god's sake!

Looks like it was a cute place at one time. Totally trashed by mother nature now. It felt very sad...

Msgsudz and myself explored that place on our way back from Millbrook. Seems out of place right next door to a busy Tim Hortons.

What a combo. Explore an old house, then get some coffee nextdoor.

What an interesting house! I love the state of decay it's in...my photographer's side of the hobby is salivating at it, haha.

Hmm..somewhere on the way to cottage country and away from Millbrook...interesting.

Great pics. I love Back bedroom. What lens are you using?

Thanks all!

msgsudz, beautiful shot.

jono, no idea of the history of the house. It's been vacant for some time (obviously). The window in the front room is covered with this sign but I don't know if this company operated from the house or not.

I didn't realize how new the Tim Hortons was until I searched google maps and live maps and saw that it wasn't on either.

Sigma 10-20mm. I got tired of being jealous of everyone else's superwide shots!

Side note for those with full membership...

http://www.uer.ca/...ow.asp?locid=26071

It almost looks like it was a rural location back in 2007 with an older barn next door to it and an addition built onto the back of the house.

It looks like Tim Horton's came along sometime after 2007.

Cool.

It hasn't really changed that much since Fedge's visit. The shed/barn is still standing behind it. I don't know how to check dates on google maps but the Timmy's isn't on the current one.

Haha, recently I've been experimenting with a 28mm lens and found it to be a neat shot. I hate carrying around a 10lb camera bag so usually I just stick with my 50mm. But I laughed at that remark...I'm jealous of the superwide and supercool digital shots everyone has!

I used to shoot 95% of my shots at 18mm on my 18-55mm kit lens. Now I'm shooting 85% at 10mm on the Sigma. I'm sure that percentage will drop as the novelty wears off. Probably.

What camera do you use? (I'm currently trying to decide on a DSLR and I might as well get as many opinions as I can) The one I've got the most recommendations for in my price range is the Nikon D60 which at Henry's and Future Shop comes with an 18-55 and a 55-200mm.

For the camera I use now I only have a 28mm, 50mm and 100mm. I bet once I get my hands on a digital camera I'll be taking tons of photos simply because of how neat it looks (as I mentioned, it's a pain to carry a huge bag with an old, heavy SLR plus lenses plus my old digital P+S).

Um, right. That got slightly rambling and off topic. In short: What camera do you use/recommend?

I have a Nikon D60. I'm happy with it but in order to autofocus it requires that the lens has an autofocus motor. Not a big problem but it does add to the cost of the lenses. In hindsight I might have gotten the D80.
