Wow, looks like a lot of money invested in tripods and mounts... Why not keep just one and sell the rest to upgrade that EOS 3???

I have a DSLR and I love my EOS-3, there's no reason to upgrade the SLR, the EOS3 is like the 5D of the film world. As for my Rebel, I can't afford a 7D, and I don't see a reason to upgrade to a better rebel or mid range model.

Superclamp: Free climbing tall things where a tripod would prove difficult to use. Christmas present last year.

190XPR0B: general use ... weights almost six pounds and doesn't fit in my backpack with the head attached. Christmas present this year.

Slik: Super lightweight climbing tripod. (<2lbs) Been my breadwinner for the last year. It's not going away until it breaks beyond repair and I've gotten pretty intimate with this tripod (I have literally disassembled and reassembled every part of it by hand.)

Benro: I bought it brand new, and used it a few times and decided I just didn't like it. Sure I'd want to sell it, but I doubt I'd get even a $100 for it. It's the most compact tripod available but I just don't have the patience for screw locks.

Sure I'd like one perfect tripod but even a carbon fiber PROCX3 with head is over 4lbs. I'd like the compactness of the slik and sturdiness of a manfrotto in a 3lb (incl. head) package for under $300. Doable? Probably not.

I just need to get stronger, but weight during hiking isn't an issue, it's free climbing up the sides of buildings and such where the weight affects my balance.

I don't mind using 30lb camo cord to "fishing line" my bag up behind me a story or two, but it's not something I'm comfortable with a few hundred feet up with security/civilians below...

Yeah, I don't know why you'd get rid of the EOS 3, great camera and it's full frame.

I don't think he realized I have a digital. I sold my powershot 570is to my best friend for $100 (good deal ja?) last fall. Then I paid my exploring related court fees with that, LOL!

Yeah, all I saw was the eos3. Not complaining, I think it is a good camera, just saying, if he didn't have a digital, selling that eos 3 would bring in some cash... now that I know you already have digital capabilities, def keep the eos 3. Ok. im done backpedaling now!

That Flexaret is certainly a very good picture taker if it works like it should. Alas, these beasts are difficult to work on, even taking of the hood to clean the groundglass is a challange. (BTW, if you ever clean the groundglass, do not use solvents or alcohol, it will wipe off the gridlines!!)

Rangefinders even!
Been tempted by that 15/4.5 for a while.
If I got one it would mean another set of choices between which film camera to bring.

Cameras:
Canon eos Rebel Xsi
Canon eos Rebel XTi
Canon Elan 7e

Glass:
Sigma 18-50mm f/3.5-5.6
Canon 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III
Canon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6
Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6
Sigma 600mm f/8

Other:
2 Vivitar 285HV flashes with stands/umbrellas (I need to get wireless triggers)
Velbon sherpa 200r tripod
Hoya circular polarizers for each lens
Kenko r72 IR filter
Some other various filters

Next on my list I'm debating either upgrading my camera body to a canon 40d or 50d, or a 1d mk II
OR
Investing in some new glass like the canon 16-35mm f/2.8L.

Suggestions?

Oh also I'm looking to get some sort of 120 TLR. Gotta love film

Here's a vote for the MK II/N. Can't go wrong there, prices are down and those cameras are built like tanks. 200,000 actuation shutters compared to 50,000 on the XXD series. 1.3 is a nice crop, decent job with wides and a little boost with the long stuff. I recently went from a 10D to 1D MK 3, was originally going for a MK IIN but found the 3 for a steal, absolutely no regrets.

Can't go wrong with good glass either, holds its value if you want to sell later. Seems you have 16-35 covered already, maybe not covered as well as the L would do but IMO go for the MK II.

Seeing as you have mostly APS-C lenses go for a refurbished 7D. It'll be around the same price as a 1DmkII/ and you'll get so much more bang for your buck. And it would be a "real" upgrade.

I don't think the 1DmkII has microadjust but the MA feature of the 7D will allow you to correct for third party sample variation.

I guess the 50D has MA too. 7D or 50D.

Does pretty well for its size. Extremely small, which allows me to carry it comfortably in my pocket every day of the week. She got some spots on the inside of the lenses after I fell in the Mississippi last Jan, had them replaced, apparently there was fungus growing inside them. Cracked the screen last month in a drain. Currently everything works except the screen, which generally just stays black, occasionally will light up, though it distorts colors. I wish I wasn't such a klutz. :/

Thanks for the advice guys, refurbished 7D is something I actually never thought of, and as far as new glass goes I can't upgrade as much as I'd like because I'll be going off to university next year and I should really be saving more for that. I'm contemplating selling the 10-20mm in order to help finance an upgrade.

Nah, don't sell the wide angle (unless you planned to replace it with something better). If anything, how often do you use the 600mm? It would fetch the same money and seems to me like it'd be more of a niche lens than the 10-20. If you upgraded to a 7D you could always use the 300mm and crop in. The large pixel density would permit it.

VV has a point about your APS-C lens collection, Might be best to stick w/ that format. All my lenses need to do double duty on a Canon film camera so I never buy APS-c specific.
