pal, if you can't handle internet sarcasm, then maybe this isn't the place for you. And to be honest, by the sound of it, you're one of those guys that i WOULDN'T be worried about breaking anything on me.

Settle down... it's just the internet. No one has a gun to your head and forcing you to participate in this forum.

Internet sarcasm is fine and dandy but when ive asked a question and i get not ONE bullsh#t answer but TWO wtf?
Im here for the love of urban exploration and want to meet others with the same interest not for ignorant comments when asking a question . I strongly doubt you represent the majority of members here . Seems like a few here are just not cool with "noobs" on this site .

Well I lol'd.

No idea what types of trains, the tracks aren't even in the tunnel anymore and the bridge, I assume, must've been there before the creation of the dam, which is a few hundred feet away. Maybe they destroyed the tracks to build it?

Interesting about the change of tunnel structure. It's Massachusetts, I thought they just ran out of money halfway through :p

thanks man , yeah thats what i meant with my question i was just wondereing if it was ever actually used and if so what it was used for . sorry for the bs on your thread , and thanks for the serious reply

Alright, the next person who uses Internet sarcasm in this thread loses full membership. Or, in lieu of that, one of their members.

One dude asked a relevant question worded poorly, another dude gave a smartass answer, first dude didn't appreciate it, second dude didn't appreciate first dude's lack of appreciation, and suddenly there was Internet jizz flying this way and that. Done?

Considering Mass's history with tunnels I'd be more afraid of the cased side, the concrete might come down in chunks.
For those not familiar with MA this is a stab at the big dig.

It's not a problem, BS in threads is what makes the internet go round. I mod another series of forums anyhow so I certainly see alot of it. This isn't even a thread derailment.

Moving on, I wasn't too worried about the place collapsing. I don't know why people get those kinds of fears about this stuff?

Statistics. If the tunnel is say a century old and I spend an hour in it, what are the odds that that one hour is dangerous? This isn't directed at you, 'ii. I just get that alot...someone asks what I'd do if the ceiling fell in. I guess shit a brick because it's the most improbable bad luck I'd ever have experienced?

The danger was the floor. It was dark as hell here and about 3/4ths through the tunnel I actually did slip on some ice. Know how time slows and you have a chance to save yourself? I took the brunt of it with my shoulder and barely...absolutely barely...bopped my head [was wearing a beanie too]. Absolutely no pain, instead I panicked because the camera fell and the battery came out.

It was fine too.

Edit: Mother of God, what's up with my comprehensive skills today? This post is full of assery on levels kindergarten prepares you to avoid.

The TOS says not to delete what you say...is editing your mistakes so you don't look nine okay? I never proof read before posting and don't know why -_-

Weird, I'd known this tunnel was somewhere in this area for a decade, long before I'd ever been into this hobby. But even when I read about it's location a few months ago I wasn't at all interested to find it despite the fact that I often visit my old hometown [two towns over].

Anyways, a couple days back I had gone to MA to get my car fixed up for cheap and got lost despite the idiotic fact I lived here only two years back. Strangely, while driving down a busy road, I just happened to look to my left and see the entrance to this tunnel in a hill.

A trudge through some terrible snow...and I mean just awful, I exited through the other side and never came so close to passing out in my life...got some good shots. The odd thing is that the tunnel starts like a cathedral and ends like a cavern. Funds run out?

The ice formations were incredible so I took many shots, doesn't seem like it'd be so great in the summer.

Unfortunately, as you probably know by now, my camera is a hunk'a junk. Sometimes amazing shots are just blurry and beyond that the place was dark as hell. I don't have the Photoshop skills to brighten some of these without butchering the light coming in from the exit -_-

Anyhow, enjoy!

hell yea ive been here before, clinton tunnel, supposedly haunted, if u go all the way thru it turns into a sort of cave at the end. i remember i went in the summer and it was alll mud at the end almost lost a shoe

Pun intended!? …wait… “Off The Rails”? (sorry, crack myself up).

Seriously though, they could take it somewhere else, we wanna see your hard work (that wounded you in the effort) and hear about the cool history.

Yeah, the history's pretty cool. The entire tunnel appears to be frozen in time.

Cool shots of the ice formations. I've never seen ice like that before. Though I do not wish to see any more ice or snow again until next year.

Samurai, those are badass as well. Those formations are just so cool. I've checked out a lot of the tunnels in Jersey in the dead of winter, but have never saw anything as incredible as those. Awesome work.

I loved your pics, Samurai. How the hell do those weird bulbs form?

Lol, didn't even catch the derailment pun. That was a clever sighting...although the entire tunnel is derailed. No tracks in it.

I first heard of the tunnels when I was 16, way before any exploration. Heard they were haunted and you could hear train horns. WTF? Most haunting stuff I hear is crockery, but what's with this? Did trains die in this tunnel?

This tunnel was used for ghost cargo trains to transport orbs between Massachusetts's various abandonments. Ghost trains don't need tracks, so they never laid any down.

Thanks for the reminder about this spot, it's a good backup splore for when other attempts fail. I've been meaning to go back.

I would say that explanation is total crap, but I saw something like that on ghostbusters once, so it's gotta be real.

It's haunted by Australians as well. "Oice"

I love the pretentious 'tude of some people lately evident in the critique of this place. "Hmm...m'yes, 'tis a mediocre tunnel, but befits my standards..." Christ on a bike. There's barely jack shit left in this state compared to 5 years ago and people who likely never saw any of the cool and now razed locations in MA are talking it down. The tunnel is great in summer or winter. Be careful of the ice, dress warm, and go see it. Watch out for animals and drug addicts and bring a good flashlight.

In the summer it's interesting to walk through as well.

And Sam, those photos are ridiculous!
