Far as I understood, the Genosha was being renovated to use as student housing for the downtown parts of UOIT, by an outside company.
Also, the new courthouse is already built and active, on the north side of Bond St, across from Anderson's Funeral Home. It was defaced back in August 2010 to the tune of 6 digits of damage, guy was running past it with a hammer and smashed 11 panes of the glass windows (roughly 6x20' windows). I know, because I was standing in the parking lot of the funeral home when it happened.
As for security at Knob Hill, its not difficult to get onto the property. There are a number of breaks in the fencing. Get up to the doors (on the east-facing side of the building, anyway), and there is a CCTV camera (active? who knows?), and a Passive IR sensor right there. I was looking at the boarded up windows, complete with broken glass on the doors, looked up and saw the IR sensor, followed a second or two later by its indicator LED, and an alarm siren blaring away inside. I bolted, not wanting to be around if/when someone showed up to check on it. In discussing this building months ago with another UER member, they said they live in the area and regularly set that alarm off walking their dog on the property.

something very similar happened downtown st catharines a couple years back as well.
i also find it very odd the place is so well protected without any care for an alarm. i wonder if its all outstanding and no longer monitored, back when the facility was in use

I walked by the hotel a few times and I heard an out of tune piano playing, no POEs and everything was locked from the outside.
Can we make a good ghost story for the place? It could be our ticket in, just get on one of those TV shows and act really scared.

I heard from a very reliable source that Genosha is empty and completely gutted. Too bad. I saw some pictures in a news article not too long ago of some nice looking wood furnishings. Now it'll be just another boring student residence or office building. God knows we need more office buildings. Right?
