paranormal witness show. syfy. mansfield training school.

so theres a new paranormal show called paranormal witness on syfy. its the usual retelling of eye witness stories done in reenactment style.

this one is about a mansion near/on the mansfield training school property in CT. accounts from the owners who still live in the house to this day i believe.

say what ya will. but some patient abuse stories wouldnt surprise me one bit for a hospital for imbeciles and the feeble minded etc. i do believe in ghosts, having had personal experience when i was younger, but nothing involving hospitals. i had a clairvoyant girlfriend back then, ive had unexplained scratches, mild possessions/visions etc. and yes this stuff is real, but i agree it is hard to explain to people who havnt had the experience.

just thought it would worth a post since im sure some of you people have been here. anyone have ghost encounters before? not just at state hospitals but anywhere? cause ive never had any at hospitals, and have yet to see orbs in any pictures, even after years of photography.

Looking for people to explore/photograph with. PM me.

Damned shows namedropping...

I've had a couple of experiences that were weird feelings/ideas I couldn't shake. I do see them as 'paranormal experiences' but I hate the term since the ideas modern movies give off is that chairs move and doors slam, that kind of nonsense.

So I guess I don't believe in ghosts, just picking up on energies. One instance was after my first explore ever, back before I did photography, and was the day before I was headed back to take my first picture ever. I woke up from a sound sleep, it felt more like a blackout than anything else--like I had an empty head for a few hours. The weird thing was, although I had no dreams at all, I felt like someone had sat me down and rationally talked me out of going back. It felt exactly like I'd had a point and counter point conversation except there were no words to recall. Before falling asleep I was nothing but excited, but I woke up with this eerie--I'd call it empty--mindset where I just felt unsafe. Every time I laid back to sleep, the very moment I was about to pass out, I would get a semi dream that told me something about not going.

Needless to say, I never heeded the warning and now do this obsessively. It was just a hell of a fucking oddity.

The other time I was in a sanitarium, entirely alone, and was backing up to take a shot. I thought something along the lines of 'I don't wanna back into the guy behind me' and suddenly it dawned on me again I was alone--it was maybe a fragment of a second that I had this thought. It jarred me a bit but I kept going and felt fine. But why such an intense failure of logic? I was positive I was about to back into someone for a moment--and this isn't something that ever happens to me alone in my apartment. Why in an abandoned hospital?

These things haven't put me off at all, although the first one was uncomfortable, but I can't really explain, if nothing more, why my mind did them. It felt more like I was sensing something there like how your brain will just tell you when it becomes hotter or colder.

I have no evidence either way and don't fear these places. But these experience were odd enough that I prefer to believe it was something pretty out of the ordinary.

TLDR: Yes.

I did see that it was going to be on Sy Fy,totally sucks because it will just bring unnecessary attention to the place.

I've never had a paranormal experience while exploring, but I had one 10 years back or so after the death of a close friend. Like I've said before, I want to believe!

Before a big explore I like to work with leather. The Native Americans always said that working with hides and pelts releases the soul.

Sounds like you experienced a channeling. (aka non-demonic possession)

The existence of ghosts violates my world view.

When you die: you lose conciseness, then the neurons in your brain stop firing, the gray matter that holds the last of your memories is eventually destroyed and everything that was "you" ceases to exist.

I would be more likely to dismiss an unusual event or strange sound as such and would be more willing to settle for a natural or rational explanation.

The human brain has evolved to recognize patterns and to immediately alert you to things that break the pattern, (lion rustles the leaves in the bushes) putting you in a heightened sense of awareness, then your mind needs to justify this break in normal environmental patterns with some sort of explanation, those who are more prone to latch onto a religious or paranormal beliefs will be inclined to allow their mind to look for their desired explanation and possibly see things that aren't there then affirm what they see with a confirmation bias when they come to a conclusion of what they "really" saw.

Everything I said above is horseshit...

I was raped by the ghosts of Thomas Story Kirkbride and former president Grover Cleveland when I wandered into a Flying Dutchmen-esque version of taunton state hospital.

This is literally the first serious response I've ever received for a post like I made above.

Honestly, as far as my religious or whatever you would call it views, I just connected what I see as logical dots between science and some things I see as wise from the people around me. It more or less follows unprovable ideas that don't accomplish anything other than comforting me.

My take on whatever experiences like these are is that they're unprovable but you believe whatever most comforts you.

I've definitely had some supernatural experiences. Interestingly, out of the dozens of places I've explored in the past couple years, only one spooked me in that way, and I'm usually pretty good at picking up on that kind of thing. I've felt this much more often in places I'm living, maybe because I spent all my time there vs. a few hours in some abandoned house one afternoon.

If you believe it, you'll experience it, if you don't, you won't. But I hate ghosthunting shows.

I was really bored yesterday, and was watching SyFy and this show came on and then all a sudden it had the sign for Mansfield and I had to continue watching it. Then I tried finding the house on Bing. Was pretty interesting to say the least.

Right, energy can neither be created nor destroyed. The question is if it isn't destroyed, what is it capable of if anything.

Just started watching it... pretty well shot.

The closest thing I've had to a paranormal experience in these places at least, was in a an abandoned resort years back. There was a room that was tied to lots of stories, which isn't anything new or unusual, just some more urban legends. We went into the room to check it out, and a strange feeling overcame me of just not wanting to be there anymore. I got tight of breath and had a bad feeling while in the room. I only stayed in there a minute or two and had to wait out in the hall, where it still semi-continued until we left that area.
Afterwards, my friend who was also in there with us said he kind of had a similar experience or "not wanting to be there". The other two said nothing about it.

I'm pretty skeptical in general but still don't know how to explain that one. Maybe just tons of mind games going on, but it was very unpleasant either way.

What happened?

I brought Ravenstell to a state hospital and after two hours of pleasant photography some utility workers pointed us to the exit.

I go with 'energy not being destroyed' on this. We don't have the human brain anywhere near mapped out and senses are just limited ways we're informed of our surroundings. It can't be proven whether or not it's impossible to feel energy there's no physical signs of.

It's all about the energy and what happens to it. The only 'ghost hunting' show that is worth watching at all is Ghost Adventures. They don't look for proof of the paranormal, they document it. If you want to read a good book on the existence of the paranormal, go pick up 'Dark World' by Zak Bagans (The leader of the Ghost Adventure Crew). Amazon has a preview with quite a few of the pages I you don't feel like buying it.

Yeah, anyone who thinks a giant rat ghost visited him nightly is definitely someone you should trust.
