splorin' today, anyone?
< on 2/25/2012 8:35 PM >
Posted on Forum: UER Forum

it appears I'm omw to toronto today, if anyone wants to accompany me in my antics. no definite plans yet. reply or pm, as you wish. and yes, I'm fully aware of the sketch factor of meeting some unknown (me) for something like this and won't be surprised if no one responds :p Planning is not my strong suit. nor capitalization.

THIS is a great way to end up finding yoursef in a confinement room. I'm only interested in meeting random strangers on short notice if they have an 80's van and offer free candy.

as i alluded to in my post, i think we're all aware of that. I'm willing to take the risk... to be honest, not too worried about it. and the offer was there for others who feel the same. next time I'll give more notice guys

Dude, you may have had an account for 2 years but you have a total of 4 posts under your belt, 5 once you reply to this. I suggest you go out and explore on your own, post stuff in the forums and create a rep for yourself before asking peeps to meet up. Just a thought cuz that's how most of us did it.

Right now Flickr and Google (maps & streetview) are your best friends.

also Bing Maps Bird's Eye View. You can see all four sides of a location, helps with planning a lot.

Archie heres my rookie advice, like jerm and squalie said you have to post and comment more. Post a few pics etc. theres a huge trust factor in this hobby and people dont know you yet. Gotta get out there build a name for yourself and then people will meet up to explore. Theres definitely a scetch factor to ur lack of posts

Are you kidding me Mr "1 month in"? Have you posted any pics? Have you been anywhere yet? I've only seen you comment, quite lightly might I add, on a few threads.

I'm probably going to get shit for naming locations but here are 2 good starting point that are easy as pie and not too far from ya... Kodak and Barber Mill. Both vandalized and trashed to shit but still worth a visit.

Dallas was referring to the UE meets that happen each month. You just missed one last weekend but there will be one again in 3 weeks.

I was at this month's meetup. It was fun, and I am probably gonna make it to the March one also.

Oi! Frogster, PM me next time you go out. I don't care that you haven't posted much or been around long ;)

Okayy there qualie. why dont you chill. I dont get offended easily, but you actually just offended me.

First of all. No i lost my camera skiing at the beginning of winter and have been doing some photography free exploring. Step off.

Have I been anywhere yet? Yes i have. More places then you probably ever went back when you where 16. I jump on every opportunity to explore that I can get away with without my parents finding out about my hobby. I am familiar with a number of abandoned houses and other buildings around lakeview area. Ive explored in hamilton. Gravenhurst. When im driving around I look for abandoned places to explore without even realizing im doing it.

I have nothing to prove to you, and i dont care whether uve seen me comment on ur dumb forum threads or not. I actually prefer looking at the LDB and commenting on pictures of locations. I find it more interesting then the forums most of the time. However, my first attempt at full membership got turned down because all i ever did was post comments on UER photos of locations, and always ignored the forums. Then i got turned down and realized they where important.

In fact, Ive been to a legit mansion that no ones seems to be aware of on here with another limited member who im not gunna name that i strted tlking to on here. He actually quit using this site and started using abandoned places ontario instead cus he was so damn sick of all the stuck up prudes on here.

To me exploring isnt about owning a really expensive camera, then going exploring and taking high quality photos. Its cool if thats what you do, but i dont need anyones approval to go explore, and i dont have to present photo evidence of how i tresspassed to people on the interwebs to gain rep if i dont have a camera and dont feel like buyin one.

Oh and to conclude, I was actually not even addressing you with my question. I was asking Dallas.

Ok sweetie, calm down.

I never said you needed a fancy camera to explore, Dallas was doing just fine with a point and shoot (until she got that DSLR a few days ago) and so are many others.

It's great to talk about locations and comment on pics but if you don't actually have proof that you've been anywhere, how are you planing to get your FM if that's what you want and how are ppl going to trust you?

Also, I honestly didn't realize that you where just 16. My bad for giving your a hard time. One word of advice though is that you shouldn't meet up with random strangers on here that have next to no posts, are basic members and that don't post up their age/location. You're underage, be careful!
