This particular property looks like about 20 to 25 acres of prime bottom land with a 3600 sq ft two story brick house, stables, barn, individual horse sheds and paddocks a water well as well as a caretakers house and a bizarre out of place looking apartment/condo type building. Its surrounded by a perennial creeks, hardwood forest and cedar breaks in former tall grass prairie.

Its just a former residence a home. The caretakers or hired hands house may have been the original ranch house. The big house was a little more interesting.

By the time most of you are reading this The Running G Ranch will all be gone, the only remaining evidence might just be this DB entry. Its slated for demolition. There has been a working farm or ranch here since the 1930s. Later it was a quarter horse ranch and boarding stables up until about 2004. The main house was built in 1965. The City of Plano acquired it to expand their 800 acre Oak Point Nature Preserve. An auction was held here in August 2006 to sell off some of the farm equipment and salvaged materials. This rural corner of Plano is now crisscrossed by new roads, renamed roads, housing subdivisions and the natural areas which are being paved with nice safe parking lots and manicured trails so urban dwellers can pretend theyre actually hiking through the wilderness. At least three or four other farms, ranches or homesteads have already been bulldozed in the area. The park has an ampitheatre for concerts and holds an annual hot air balloon festival. They even managed to save room for the most important part of any urban outdoor experience, soccer fields! I made two attempts to access this property recently. Both at night and both failed. Each time the gate was up but there were vehicle headlights and lights on inside the stables. On one occasion a Plano black & white was parked between two buildings in the driveway with no lights on. If you park anywhere along the two major streets here Plano PD will ask you to keep moving and reiterate that this is city property, not open to the public and no parking, yet. Edit: Its gone now, its a nature preserve with hiking biking etc.
