  Gas burnoff of some kind. Must be petroleum or coal nearby.

  Flare stack for a sour gas well. Burns off hydrogen sulphide, releases it into the surrounding air and pumps the remaining natural gas to some Calgarian's bank account.

  hydrogen sulfide is bad shit. i work in a pulp mill... we get the stuff all the time.
