I can't see how it could. All left on the ground is concrete, the roof would have fall before the concrete floors. The machines, tanks or process that was there could be the answer.

Seems to me that was a bit of fun had by the crew that removed the floor, or someone was just too lazy to throw it down.

All the equipment in the Montreal refinery was transfered in Toronto, including the then brand-new cooling towers. this explains most of the demolition.
