Cant be late 30's, the styling is wrong. thats definately a postwar car. 1948 ford is my guess.

if it is a Ford, it would be a 46-48. But I don't think it is a Ford. The tailight housing is wrong for this period. Could be a Mercury, but I don't have any pics of this period Merc. if there was a pic of the front, that would clear it up significantly.

1946 Mercury...had the 4 square gages to the left of the steering wheel, big round speedometer slightly to the right of the wheel, little doors on the dash for defrost air, split windshield, oval rear window. But the taillights still don't look right.

Here's a 1946 Ford on eBay with rear and dash shots...looks pretty much the same as the Mercury Monarch. Could be either. http://cgi.ebay.co...rdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I was basing my ID out of a HUGE book I have titled "Ford- The Complete History" This book weighs about 25lbs. I've got a great pic of the ass of a 48 Ford sedan and the tailights are different... they're vertical... But damnit the chrome and body lines are REALLY close... I think it's a FoMoCo product, just not sure which line/model/year.

Taillights are the same as found on the 1947 Ford Super Deluxe, same chrome trim on the side... Pretty sure it is one...

Well, it's gone now. Why, I have no clue, as everything else is still there.
