When the sawmill, power station and its smoke stack were demolished in the late 90s, the redevelopers found out that soil under and around the ruins was badly contaminated. After my first visit they started to replace and clean the soil. During my first photography-oriented trip the work was still unfinished and the place looked depressing in cold, grey spring day. Deep pits, orange safety fence and old, rusted pipes sticking from the ground... The place looked like it was under heavy redevelopement, and the days of the house factory were counted. During the soil cleaning also the ramp to the second floor was demolished. I wonder what was the point. The pile of bricks and concrete can be seen under the big door.
