You can't really tell but those are paint chips hanging from the walls and ceiling. Beautiful effect.

It's a very short tunnel that doesn't lead anywhere, but the view on the way out is great.

It's just like a dead-end hallway. This shot is taken from the very end, against the wall towards the only exit.

Depends on humidity, surface the paint was applied to, quality of the paint, type of paint, temperature changes etc.
I've seen paint jobs start peeling within a month and others lasting for years.
