  I'd be a good idea to check the sticker on the licence plate of this car to see what year it was last driven... that might give us a clue as to when this place was abandoned.

  It could be properties owned by the gov't. There is a large area of land owned by transport canada north of Pickering, Ajax, et cetera set aside for an airport which they are supposedly building there.
