Paris Catacombs

The Salle of the Dragon gains it's name from a superbly carved Chinese Dragon on the wall at the entrance of this small room. I first visited this room on my own to photograph the Dragon. Later Stonga and I visited the room again to cook our dinner of casoulet. This French meal is potato in meat sauce and is just the thing for hungry people exploring the Catacombs.

The carved dragon

And again, looking out into the passage from Salle Dragon.

Looking out of the Salle Dragon into the passage way beyond. The Dragon is on the wall behind the right most pillar.

This room contains a small well which seems to be used mostly as a toilet and rubbish bin.

Stonga and I relax in the Salle of the Dragon after a night of exploring the Catacombs. We were drinking Coca Cola and eating cassulet.

Stonga is cooking our dinner. I loved the taste of this, but I did not want to eat too much because going to the toilet in the Catacombs is not too much fun. The method is to place a number of candles between some rocks then to place the can on the rocks. You have to place the can up side down and on it's side to heat it all the way through.
