World Trip 2002 - Rome

Rome was a great city. I loved it. There was so much to see and do. Apart from the obvious Roman ruins there was also some brilliant and stunning women in the city. I certainly appreciated that Rome was the capital of fashion. And there were some stunning fashions there.

The Catacombs of Rome were somewhat disappointing in some ways, but very interesting in other ways. The main disappointment was that there were organised tours that were very inflexible and short. The other great disappointment was that they did not allow video down there. I had paid my 5 Euro entry fee to the first Roman Catacombs when I was told this. It was terrible being rushed through these Catacombs of Rome and looking at all of the passages without being able to head off on my own down them.

On my second trip to the Roman Catacombs I had met up with some other Australians and a German from the youth hostel. We decided that we would try sneak off on our own if we were in a big tour group. At any rate we'd try for some pictures or video. We ended up in a group of just nine but by putting me last in the line and having three strategic blockers between me and the tour guide I managed to sneak some video. The actual video from start to finish looks so dodgy. It is intermittently showing the catacombs or the interior of my back pack. Hidden camera pictures of the Rome Catacombs.

The road where the bus dropped me off at the Catacombs. I arrived in Rome not knowing a word of Italian but made my way out here okay.

This is the area around the Rome Catacombs entrance. I did not manage any pictures of this Catacomb other than this and the one below.

Looking back down the exit of the Roman Catacombs. Even taking this picture I was watched closely by a tour guide.

The second Catacomb of Rome I visited. This was the one I managed to get video of.
