World Trip 2002 - New York

This big tunnel under Riverside Park in New York is the scene of Jennifer Toth's infamous "The Mole People" book and also scene of the movie "Dark Days". It was easy enough to locate, but not easy to get inn. I encountered some homeless people who were not keen on strangers. They were not scary, just did not want to let strangers in.

I went looking for the big tunnel that Dark Days was filmed in and found it no problem. Here is a vent in the Riverside Park above the tunnel.

I found an easy entrance right by this skate park about half way along the tunnel. Immediately inside it was a bunch of homeless people who were not keen on me taking photographs or entering the tunnel. I decided it might not be a good idea to force the issue.
