Roof Topping
Roof Topping is the exploration of building roofs. There is usually quite a lot of plant and equipment up there. Air conditioning, sometimes water towers and the occasional roof top garden.
I'm quite scared of heights, but strangely enough, roof topping has never really bothered me.
Target for today - way up there
Access ladder on to a roof top area
Water cooling pipes and water cooler vanes on the right with a ventilation fan middle left
Tight squeese around a water cooling area
View over a small false roof that should Never be stepped on
Maze of pipes and metal
Upon entering the roof top plant room I encounter a maze of machinery including boilers
Chilled water and what looked like massive storage batteries for the emergency power unit. They were not, and some guy told me what they are, but I forget what he saidf they were.
Some sort of emergency power thing I think.
Power regulating panels and water boilers / coolers
Control panels and exit door leading way up to the very top of the building
Looking out over the glass ceiling as seen above
Ventilation fans above the glass ceiling
Giant air intake duct, taller than most people. This is the fire emergency ventillation intake. During a fire this thing sucks in air and blows it down stair wells to keep them clear of smoke.
Other side of that air intake
The forest of pipes
Looking straight down the front of the building to the street below
More street scape
Roof top of building across the street
More city scape
Leaning over the side for a better look down
The smaller ventilation system on the building next door
An ancient air
cooler on building next door
