The Urban Adventure Site -

The second drain was a short one, not much longer than a hundred yards, but it had an interesting feature in it. It was a double barreled drain, that is, it had two seperate drains. The drain was located on Wild Turkey Creek belive it or not.

This drain was good because you could see light at both ends so there was no stress exploring it. One thing I should mention that I did not realise about drains is that the water in them can be very cold. We wore old sneakers with good grip but the water filled them in this second tunnel so our feet were soon freezing. The grass in the picture is quite high, the bit on the left is almost 2 yards high.

This drain was short, with knee deep cold water.

At the upper end of the drain there is a slide. The water slides down a slimy ramp which we found to be very hard to climb up but we managed it with a bit of team work. There was a pond at the other side. We tried to crawl out without getting wet but in the end we decided to give up and just walk through the thigh deep water of the pond.

The slide from the downstream end.

The slide from the pond. The water was thigh deep and cold.

After exploring the second drain we headed east out of town towards the third drain.
