Moonee Ponds drain is a rather short one, not at all difficult to explore but well worth doing. Strictly speaking it's not really located in Moonee Ponds, but so what.
The drain has two easy to enter entrances. The upstream drain entrance can be a bit difficult to locate, being hidden in amongst the weeds and tall grass.

There is not much to say about this drain, All in all it is about 300 meters long and has a nice shape change in it from Mummy to RCP. This is an ideal drain for beginners as it is easy to explore and has light in it for most of it's length. It normally has a bit of water flowing through it, so you will probably get your feet wet but that's no problem.
The drain comes out in the concrete of Moonee Ponds creek itself where work was still taking place on the new freeway link. The picture below shows the entrance taken a day after a flood which reached about a meter above where it is shown below. That's about half way up those doors.
