of where features are in relation to above ground.
1 The Entrance. The entrance to this drain is right by a major road. Note the tracks left by a tractor right up to the entrance of the drain.
Rectangular concrete drain section.
The drain is initially a large rectangular concrete drain section large enough to walk upright in. There is a bank to the left about 60 metres in, just after a small RCP off to the right side. Some years ago I wrote a very appropriate piece of opinion on the side of the drain. Yes, this drain is badly polluted.
The drain continues off west, following the railway line towards it's end about two kilometers away. The bottom of the drain is full of very nasty debris banks. I gave up trying to keep my feet dry and walked across the mud banks while a friend ended up almost slipping over as their shoes sank into a mudbank. There are a huge number of bricks and dirt in the drain. There is often money to be found on the floor of some drains with debris, but not in this drain.
About 300 - 400 metres in the drain changes from a rectangular drain to a couple of smallish RCPs. They are both a pain to explore. The one on the left is cleaner and less slippery than the one on the right but has more debris in it, and is a bit stoopy. Both drains head west north west for about 2 kilometers, passing two junction rooms.
Past the second junction room the right side tunnel heads North into a shrinker pipe. The left one continues on west for quite a while with several small Gatic type manholes in the ceiling. Eventually it comes to an end at a large grilled gutterbox like feature. Like the graffiti above says, you're a bit of a nutter to ever go down the drain that far, at least more than once.
