Do NOT enter drains. Read this
warning!
Turbine.
Rating:Updated 22nd June 2003
Turbine is mainly named after the main feature of the drain. From the surface there's only a little suggestion that this feature even exists. From the entrance of the drain you would simply not even think of entering it. It is a series of 3ft pipes half immersed in water. Had I not noticed this great feature under construction it would have remained completely undiscovered for decades.
Inside the main chamber of the Turbine. That's the manhole we entered it by. Note the divider wall and wooden drain entrance for future planned drains.
Sorry about the dust. On the other side of that wall water enters the Turbine.
The water then flows down that little hole by Mongo.
It then flows into this circular chamber with a metal roof and some strange apparatus in it.
From above ground there is this little hatch that opens in a large metal lid.
Looking down you can see it is a huge Gross Pollution Trap.
That mud filled tunnel about 1 and a half ft high leads into the main chamber of Turbine.
Once through the Turbine the water goes down this low passage into the lake.
Once again well feel it is prudent to warn you that this web site is not intended to encourage you to explore drains. The exploration of drains by inexperienced people may lead to death and injury.
