| | | Kurtz, Your old stuff looks like what I used to ride! I made the transition from steel to rock to urethane, I guess thats what they are still made of? It sure has been interesting to see the evolution of board, length, width, wheel diameter. I now see boards 4 foot in length, large diameter wheels for high speed, mid length boards with pneumatic tires for off road. The boards with little tiny wheels I assume are for tricks? I'm Now riding Bauer ice boots equiped with 4 wheels, 2 of them smaller in front for turning, These things are awesome, but I can only pull a 30 second shift, then I'm gasping for breath. If You guys are ever out this way, I'll take you out to Bluff Cove on the Palos verdes peninsula, surfing started out here in the 30's at this location. I've got extra boards and wet suits, we might all look like pregnant seals, but all the locals are used to seeing me, so it shouldnt shock them to much. Sam how much does a whole leg rack weigh?

about 400-450lbs. give or take.
| I knew that you'd been doing some type of power lifting, Imagine if you'd been doing roids or HGH? There was a skate movie out a few years back, Dogtown? Something dogs? It was based on Peralta's life in Santa Monica, it was a better movie than I thought it was gonna be, I recommend it if you haven't already seen it? I grew up just a few miles from those boys, they might have been just a few years older? I never new any of them, but we all sure knew of them. The surf and skate culture out here at the time was very prevalent, probably like Ice Hockey is out your direction. Just that surf / skate was not organized or anything till the big sponsors got involved. Some say that was the downfall of both.

I still have a Bart simpson Vehicle of destruction board, What a thrasher, I ride it around and people say I should take better care of it. Would Bart take care of it, I don't think so!!!

| | | You wern't kidding about that place being built on a hill, looks like a 400 foot elevation change in just a few miles. 40 miles an hour on a skateboard would be commonplace I'm sure. Look's like a big ass mill down near the water, Weird named street goes into it, starts with a B? I think?... I'll guess that's where you work. Looks like a pretty cool place to live, lots of hilly country and winding roads, winter must mean, lots of drifting thru the snowy corners, long downhill's have gotta be scarry as shit!!!! We've got a 1300 foot elevation change in just a couple of miles, but it's just a large hump on the coast. The roads up over and around it are great for motorcycles. And the ocean side of the Palos Verdes peninsula is a really bitchin coastal range, with views out to 4 or 5 Islands 30 to 70 miles out.

| | | Meta, it's been a few years since i've seen Endless Summer, but I don't recall the Wedge being mentioned, Maybe in Endless Summer II. Kurtz, is that you at the wedge? (Big ball's I gotta say) That place is not for fat old guys like me on their 9' boards, to tell the truth that place scares the crap outta me, I've learned my lessons regarding hydrodynamics. Here is some frightening photos of the wedge trying to kill a few people!! This all happens in 3 to 4 feet of water.

Well, I'm just going to have to watch it again, then
| I own both of them, maybe my subconscious erased all images of the wedge due to the fear of that nasty ass wave. It is actually man made, due to the building of that rock jetty, the waves come in at an angle, hit the jetty, bounce to the beach, then back out where they meet with the new incoming wave, right where they meet, the wave suddenly doubles in size, it does this in 3 or 4 feet of water. Young, strong, and healthy surfers get the crap kicked out of them, broken necks and backs are very common, sometimes fishermen get pulled off the rocks by the waves, they seldom survive the thrashing the get. Sam, thanks, I now have dug out my old skateboards, like I didn't have enough to work on, now I'm gonna die in my own driveway.
