1. Tangerine Dream 6/24/86 - Cleveland, OH
2. Phish - 7/15/00 - Columbus, OH
3. Pink Floyd 2/27/80 - NYC (I was 12.)
4. Grateful Dead - 9/8/90 - Richfield, OH
5. Phish - 7/14/00 - Columbus, OH

My brother won tickets to Floyd from the radio, and it included a bus trip there and back. Our parents obviously wouldn't let us go, so we snuck out, caught the bus downtown and hopped on the bus to NYC. This was before cell phones and people freaking out about liability and all that, so we just went along for the ride! A nice couple looked out for us (my brother was 15), and we had a great time. I have a copy of the show on CD, (all of these, actually) and it really brings back memories.

Phish in Columbus was a trip, too. The first night at the outdoor Polaris Amphitheater saw a HUGE thunderstorm hit right as they were going on. The wind was blowing so hard it actually was hitting the stage. Everyone on the lawn (inlcuding me) rushed the pavilion and packed in jsut oget out of the torrent. I cozied up under a blanket with a young lady I just met and ended up spending the night in her hotel room with her and some of her friends.

The absolute best concert I've ever been to was an outdoor concert with 311 as the headliner supported by chevelle and a few others.

I'm all about the smaller venue shows, little shithole bars are just fine...

Thornley -many venues, but favorite would be the Horseshoe
Seether -2 venues, better one was the Rivoli
Garth Brooks -Skydome, has to be about 13 years ago now, great show- yeah I know it's country, but still a great show

I'm gonna stop there cause I don't think anything else I've seen deserves top rankings, ie: 3DG, Nickelback, Econoline Crush etc etc etc

I forgot to mention the aforementioned amphitheater is now in the UE DB. (It was re-named Germain)

I like smalled venues too, but as a pro sound guy, I can't abide the crummy sound in those places. I really prefer small theaters and stuff like that.

yep, small with decent sound... that's why I don't generally like big arena style shows. BUT, that said, the new(ish) GM Centre in Oshawa ON, is absolutely amazing soundwise. I was expecting it to rough and was very pleasantly surprised. I would do it again, and I can't say that about any other arena I've seen a show in. Shocking...

- Death Cab for Cutie/Andrew Bird, Red Rocks, July 09.
- Rage Against the Machine/Flobots, Denver Coliseum, August 08.

Agreed! Saw the Dead there back in the '80s. Apparently the curves on the road in were too tight for their trucks, and they had to offload everything about a half-mile away and hump it all to the theater!
