I've seen more new Fiat 500s than I have Chevy Cruzes out this way. I like that. And Chrysler always was kind of a global carmaker... think back to the Simca days, the "Imported for Plymouth" days... the days when the Omni and Horizon had a VW engine... or the Eagle Premier days, that thing was the bastard child of a Mitsubishi and a Volvo.

The Eagle Premier was the 2nd vehicle that the AMC/Renault Engineering team actually worked positive together on; the other was of course the Jeep Cherokee after discussing the failures of the Renault Encore and Fuego. Most of the components were from Renix, a venture between Bendix and Renault, which Volvo used a lot of components from.
The old Chrysler Europe era (which Simca was apart of) was kind of the reason why Iacocca pulled out; it was a tough market at the time and he wanted to of course, get back the home market of US, Canada and Mexico. Sure he did exports to Europe and Australia of Jeeps and Caravans, but those were after thoughts.
