| | | I'm almost 35, I live with my parents, which is a sad situation. I feel your pain. I took a business trip to Memphis about a month and a half ago, I was gone for two weeks, you'd think I was going to be gone six months with the way my mom behaved about it. She insisted on calling me at least twice a day, at least once at work and the facility where I was working had two other people with the same name as me, so finding me was a challenge. The first time, I almost thought someone had died or something. Anyway, going anywhere is impossible without leaving a phone number or something. One of the reasons I'm glad I no longer have a cellphone. So I have to sneak to do anything fun. I go with Samurai late at night sometimes, after he gets off 3-11 because that's the only time we have together. I'm usually off on the weekend he works 3-11, so we spend three or four hours together on those nights. Well, usually that causes my parents to get upset, why, I have no idea. And they wonder why I bought something I thought I would never break down and buy, an Mp3 player and use it constantly, so I don't have to listen to them. Yes, I need to move, badly. Shael

| | | I'm a parent of soon to be three teenagers. I don't always like what I'm hearing from them, but I do try to be as non judgemental as I can. I'm not naive enough to think that I know everything that goes on,but thanks for reminding me that good communication is vital, for everyone's sake. As far as exploring goes,I'm planning on taking them along soon, to something easy. Maybe your parents will want to actually come along someday Iqueld and if not,I agree that you should just keep on keepin' on with it,albeit safely. ~And yeah,I'm 34 and my Mom isn't speaking to me these days because I'm moving out west for a year, and won't be around for our monthly or so coffee tawk sessions. So I'm guessing that she's going to spend the remainder of my time here being pissed off, instead of spending time together. Parents....

| | | I remember telling my mother about exploring the convent in my neighborhood when I was a teen. She just rolled her eyes in the beginning, but after a while I would recognize the sound of her car as it pulled up to the building. Shortly after, you would hear my mom yelling "Debi, get out of that damn convent!" Of course, she was a parent and was worried that I'd get hurt, fall through a floor, or that I would "meet" someone inside the building who might hurt me. Valid concerns for a parent. I never stopped exploring, and now my daughter is my favorite exploring partner. Is there anyway your mother would be interested in exploring? Because thinking back, I think if I could have talked my mother into it, she would have enjoyed it.
