facebook question
< on 9/10/2011 4:02 PM >
Posted on Forum: UER ForumQuote
So my gf dumped me last week, said she was too soon from her divorce to be exclusive with someone and wanted to date other people.

I didn't, so that ended it. She broke up with me.

She initiated the "in a relationship" status on fb, and it's still there.

I want finality, so I can get on with the process of healing over this, it will take a few weeks to take the edge off the sting.

But I keep checking fb, hoping she would just change it back to single and then defriend me, or something....

My first thought was not giving her validation by changing the status first, and making her do it, since she initiated it (she initiated everything, from meeting the kids to introducing me to parents and friends, everything. Really took me for a ride).

But I keep coming back to look at my fb, hoping it will finally be changed. But it's not, keeps going. 4 days now since the breakup. Then thought start creeping in "maybe she still loves me and does not want this final..."

But that's BS and I know it. If anything she has been too busy or wants to spare my feelings.

Should I just do it and be done???

Yes...do it and be done. Defriend her.

I had a one night fling sort of thing when Sam and I were apart...the best thing said fling dude could have done is defriend me. I was pissed off when he did it, sure, but I was glad he did it.

This just happened to me last night, actually.

Change it and then move on. Simply said.

Unfriend her.

Change your relationship status to "it's complicated" and go fishing.

I managed to keep my relationship status as "it's complicated" until my wife finally said something about it.

It was too soon. We clicked but she wasn't ready. The ultimate insult was that she wanted to keep me around as a 'friends with benefits' while she started dating again. I turned her down.

(I'll probably regret that decision in a few weeks )

I honestly agree. They can be major jerks too, at times.

Wasn't saying anything wrong with it, but it's not what I want now. I did that with an ex before, fwb lasted up to 9 months and it made me extremely lazy and kinda depressed after awhile. I'd rather pursue something new!

It's like two magnets attracted to one another until you turn one magnet around and they're forced apart when you try to bring them together.

This will continue to occur everytime this woman realizes she is developing feelings for you (or finds herself in similar situations as with her ex)... it's called "the walking wounded".

You can risk trying to get through the barriers or you can walk away at this point but you're in for some challenges for sure.

Been there and done it. As L'Ali stated, if you keep her on FB you will forever be checking her status... and then clinging to hope she comes around.

yeah, might as well not even talk to her anymore... being friends with her on FB will achieve nothing positive, even if you still planned on hitting that ass on the regular.. you would likely want to remove her from being on your page in case other prospects appear.
