| | | Pop... all of them can die. Rap... everyone popular can die. I am guilty of listening to Kid Rock, Eminem and the Beastie Boys. Country- GOD STOP WHINING STOP WHINING STOP WHINING about your dog, truck, daddy, woman, humping fence or horse, Get a life, buy a car and shut the fuck up, You all look like idiots in cowboy hats!!! Pet peeve- Bands who take themselves too seriously. Top of this list- Pearl Jam. Eddie Veeder needs to get the corncob surgically removed from his ass. Another pet peeve- bands that are too damn chipper and don't take themselves seriously enough. Top of this list: Blink 182, New Fund Glory, any one of these annoying pop-rock-emo money cow machines currently on rotation at MTV. You, too, can feast on a dick and then eat a bullet. Samurai

| | | Posted by Maxwell My younger brother is insane about her *fake* music.
| To play devil's advocate for a little while here, there can be something vaguely comforting about fake music. There's no need to pay too much attention to a song where there are only three chords and a key change, and the lyrics are: "My friends and I went to a party / We danced with all the boys there / They think we're funny, or call us 'Smarty,' / But we just don't care" or something else equally banal. There's nothing in it that would make it difficult to understand, or controversial, or complicated. Plus if there's a good beat, it's easy to dance to (even if you dance as poorly as I do ). What's not to like? Okay, okay... I understand these are poor arguments, but now that music is becoming much more portable and accessible even than when CDs came out, it's increasingly important for teens to be sure that they choose the "correct" music to fit in with their friends, since musical taste now pervades every aspect of life. Then again, a 14 year-old boy liking Hillary Duff is a little weird. Give him a year or two and he'll become a brooding, moody goth or screaming-metal fan. After a month or so of that, you'll be crying out to hear some fake bubblegum pop if it means no longer having to hear CDs backed up by a full chorus and a recording made inside a slaughterhouse. :-p -- Mat
